OFFICE COMPLEX A BOLD NEW ERA FOR BEENLEIGH
$40 million development The York first of its kind in a decade which will provide an estimated 140 full-time jobs when complete
WORK has begun on the first major office development in Beenleigh for a decade sparking a $40 million economic and jobs boom for the area.
More than 100 jobs will be created during construction of the sevenstorey building The York and an estimated 140 new full-time jobs once it is complete in late 2021.
Ground was broken on the development this week after project partners invest-Logan and Alder Developments were granted approval last month from State Government and local council.
Logan City mayor Darren Power said the project was creating jobs “at a time our local economy and local construction businesses needs them”.
“A key priority for the new council is driving local job creation and responding to the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
The development at 96-98 York St has been designed by Conrad Gargett and comprises 4003sq m of commercial space as well as four
SOHO (small office or home office) apartments, 156sq m of ground floor retail space and underground parking.
Stacked wintergardens with a cascading array of greenery will drape from the building’s facade.
Conrad Gargett director Tony Jemmott said The York drew upon and contributed to the character of Beenleigh and its historic rural environs while setting a new standard in design for the city.
“The ground level integrates small scale commercial and retail spaces, linking York St to John Lane via a pedestrian-only laneway-connecting directly to Beenleigh Town Square.”
Invest-Logan chair Steve Greenwood said The York signified the next stage of Beenleigh’s evolution.
