I am AFL thru and thru. But have to give it to Peter V’landy. He will get the NRL back on their feet. He truly is the best sports administrator we’ve seen. At the beginning of the virus, he said NRL would be starting the season on May 28th, and they did. He made it happen. Gill McLachlan pussyfooted around making a decision, and now start 2 weeks later. Better late than never I guess? LS

How does the weather bureau get it so wrong every day and night. Forecast temperatures are out by 6 or 7 deg at night, day forecasts opposite the outcome. They say its showers, but it’s fine. They say sunny, and it’s cloudy and showery. How many years does it take to get it right. J D.

Shano, if you think the virus was a hoax go live in the UK or US. Bet you wouldn’t risk it. Just because we managed the problem so well, you question its reality. Unbelievable!

Just so that it is clear, there is no vaccine for COVID-19. Some relaxations are in order, but before we all get too carried away, just remember there is no vaccine. HarryB.

Australia would be right in voting the Morrison Govt back in, they’re on to it, they’re only starting to pull Aust out of this & they know what they’re doing. It’d muck things up changing govts at this point. Only dirt ppl have to throw is that Mr Morrison holidayed in Hawaii whilst bushfires raged, that’s irrelevant now.

Poor old Southport was in recession well before COVID-19.

Australians shouldn’t be worried about what’s going on in America. They should be more concerned with what is going on in Hong Kong and the brutalities being committed by the CCP right on our own door step.

To person saying headgear should be compulsory in the NRL to stop head injuries: Headgear does not prevent head injuries, just cuts and abrasions!

The problem with Australian manufacturers is that they are too greedy and all about profit. We are the greediest & most costly nation to live in, highest rents, power, insurance, that’s what politicians have done to Australia by selling it off.

Scott Morrison’s construction package grants are only available for projects predicted to cost about $100,000. It will exclude most ordinary homeowners and only benefit wealthier people. If the amounts of around $100,000

end up being channelled through builders instead of being paid by homeowners directly to the various tradesmen, builders will be the main beneficiaries and tradies might not be paid at all. Sound familiar? The NT Government recently ran a very successful home improvements scheme operating on a voucher system with homeowners receiving a voucher worth $4000 if they contributed at least $1000 of their own money or $6000 if they contributed at least $2000. This type of scheme could be modified to fit Scott Morrison’s less generous grant of one quarter of the cost to benefit a lot more ordinary homeowners. Think about it PM. You might win over some Labor voters in the process. Signed The Rooster that useter

No job? No future? Don’t worry, Ch. 9 is showing every day – in the middle of 6pm news – multi-million-dollar properties for sale, just in case you still have some money laying around. Talk about losing the plot!

So the Gold Coast is registering victims of Ross River fever. This doesn’t surprise me. I live beside a designated wetland. Not once in 17 years of living at this location have we seen any spraying take place on these wetlands. In addition there are several swimming pools in this area that are green and slimy with algae. It is well overdue for the city inspectors to inspect domestic swimming pools. Squizzy, Oxenford.

I support the stand taken by the NSW policeman, when threatened with violence by a taller 17yo youth. Anyone big enough to threaten to belt a copper should expect to land on the deck. Anyway, with the assistance of the ABC, the lad is now a victim for the next 40 years! That’s a far bigger tragedy than landing on his face after making threats of violence to a courteous cop. I’d like to thank the so-called fuel watchdog that gets paid hundreds of thousands for doing absolutely NOTHING. We need an inquiry into this unlawfulness. Wog

Nothing new on our border opening. Lucky for our TV channels that there’s riots around. Something new to talk about all day long! By the way what has happened to the COVID-19 daily count? JM

It’s a worry when we read texts from retired teachers who obviously are lefties, a mirror reflection of today’s young greenie teachers who are ramming climate change drivel down the throats of innocent students as young as 8. As a highly educated businesswoman and a mother of 4 current students, give me a proud right winger like retired teacher Linda any day. Take up teaching again Linda, we need intelligent people like you to replace today’s young greenie teachers who encourage students to wag school and participate in street protests.
