I see the anarchists hiding behind the BLM radicals cause want prisons abolished. That’s in line with the abolition of police forces. So we would then have a world free of crime of all sorts. Would that be wonderful? Yes! Just imagine it. No murders, robberies, bashings, rape, child molestation. The list is endless. And all thanks to the abolition of prisons and the police. Why didn’t anyone think of this before?

The way things are going I feel sorry for the families with the surname of Black, White and Brown. They too will soon beheading to Births, Deaths. and Marriages as their names will be deemed racist. What next? Rez

Why is it OK for big miners like BHP and Rio Tinto to destroy indigenous sacred sites but it’s not OK to deface a statue? It’s all history but some people don’t care about pre-colonial history, namely LNP voters.

Thank you Gael Beale from myself and my husband for your letter (GCB, 20/6), written so eloquently and it reflects exactly how we feel … just where will political correctness stop? And as far as destroying everything that people don’t like or deem appropriate, history is just that – history. Good or bad, let us not destroy it. Let us learn from it. KK, Highland Park

I’m wondering how all the open-the-border mob are feeling now with the spike in COVID-19 in Victoria. Well done Qld Govt and thank you. BB

Is it safe to put my black bin out or will it start a riot? Keith IOC

GCB reported that volunteer firefighters are fuming at being asked to cover shifts on the controversial border block, saying they don’t support the border closure. So what’s wrong with our police, are they finding it too strenuous standing there looking to see if there is a border pass permit attached the car’s windscreen and then waiving the cars through with the flick of the wrist? Sounds like enormous physical strength is required for that job, where as the traffic control guys stand there all day and don’t complain or ask to be relieved. They already have members of the SES sitting under a tent all day on site doing nothing. In our day when we were young we were told by our fathers “Hard work never hurt anyone”. KenW

If they are not going to open the borders then open up everything else – this will at

least help businesses and people will be able to get their lives and routines back, which has to be good. Isolation of travellers needs to be better as well. Billy bob

Would someone tell the rugby league players to stop spitting and cuddling each other after scoring a try. They’re setting a bad example to kids in these very dangerous times.

Why was the canned audience @ the Raiders vs Eagles game so loud. It was hard @ times hearing the commentary. Really annoying! Jus Sayin

Border duties. Why not use experienced people with real traffic control power: lollipop ladies! – Curly Bells

Dylan Alcott, stop ya whining mate, plenty of other disabled athletes missing out and not whingeing like you.

It’s time to reassess our future with China who are trying to bully us into submission with trade and now cyber attacks. Three things need to be done in coming decades. First revive Kevin Rudd’s Big Australia policy from a decade ago so we can double our population within 20 to 30 years. Secondly disengage as much as possible (trade, tourism, finance, education, etc) from them. And finally double defence spending to 4 per cent of GDP while maintaining strong defence ties with America. Also maintaining good relations with Indonesia is essential and taking Hong Kong’s best and brightest as immigrants would help a lot to prove to China that we are not a racist country.

Am SO hoping, before I shuffle off this mortal coil, that I witness girls win the fight for same work, same pay as men!

With BLM protesters heading to protest in front on jails. May be a good time for some of them to try to pre book cells while they’re there. Certainly would cut the paperwork going forward.

Is Woodroffe Ave in Main Beach the only road in the world where drivers, mostly solo, actually seriously speed up the second they see the stop sign at Tedder Ave?

Gael Beale’s letter on Saturday – well done and congratulations. Could not have said it better myself. P, Robina

(jk, 20/6) Actually border closures decided by state governments not feds unfortunately, otherwise we’d be open. Oshy

Re: border guardians – why not use Qld public servants? After all aren’t they well qualified to sit and watch other people going about their business? Knuckles

Cartoon in Chatroom (19/6) absolute gold. I think this represents the feeling of probably 90% of Gold Coasters. Johnno
