PAM DELAHUNTY-HUNTER, BIGGERA WATERS
I MOSTLY agree with Ken Wade’s comments (GCB, 24/6). Australia is a lot better off with strong, unwavering
leaders like Scott Morrison, who does not bow down to the “sheeple” and keeps his moral principles intact as he has proven a number of times.
Our own Premier is also worthy of these accolades in the controversial way she has stoically handled the coronavirus outbreak, along with empathy.
One has to remember that our leaders do have family and friends whom they cherish and they are human too, not just unemotional machines! To those few self-centred “mugs” out there, please just check our COVID-19 Australian and world graph statistics daily and then you will realise that we are continuing to fare a lot better in containing this virus than most countries. Then ask yourself why.
This virus does not discriminate as seen in our No.1 sport stars, English royalty and Prime Minister positions.
Unfortunately, the subsequent mental health issues are just as disturbing as seen by one high-profile American businessman last Monday. This is tragic and alarming.
Complacency is a dangerous trait to mingle with at this present time, no matter where we live.
For many of us, our past lifestyle will change, and future generations will accept Australian life as the norm.
I am feeling very lucky and also grateful for having lived a big chunk of my life in a relatively young, innocent and carefree Australia.
