THE Qld opposition leader has been wanting borders open for weeks. Given recent developments, thank God she’s not in power. Dave S

As usual, DJ claiming cuts to the ABC are wrong. There are no cuts, their grants go up each year, but not by as much as usual. How can a smaller pay rise ever be seen as a pay cut? The left only ever tell part of the story. Peter

The biggest killer of men between 15 and 44 is suicide. How many of these deaths have been due to the economic woes created by coronavirus lockdown, is this higher than the deaths caused by the virus specifically? Major

Oh great! Now the Premier and Olympic committee want to continue with the bid to further place Qld into debt. How are you going to fund this extravagance and how will the cost be recovered, including the loss from running such an event? Seems to be little or no commonsense among pollies – all they want is their moment in the spotlight at everyone else’s cost! I hope you are gone at Oct election.

The chair of Virgin wanted the government to bail out Virgin Airlines. The company was screwed prior to CV and CV just sealed its fate. The board made poor financial decisions that cost the airline and they wanted the taxpayer to bail it out? No way! What about the rest of the businesses failing and people who are unemployed? Why give them a lifeline when these overpaid execs stuff it up so badly. Sick and tired of the big companies wanting bail-out packages from the average worker. Have we all forgotten that this money needs to be paid back. $400B worth!

Hey Noel, you’re a laugh a minute old mate. When calling the All Blacks “chokers” in Chatroom (Saturday) were you forgetting about the Aussie netball team in last year’s World Cup won by NZ. The Aussie one-day cricket team in last year’s World Cup. Gone in the quarter-finals. NZ made the final. Oh yes and the Kiwis won the America’s Cup again in 2017 for the 4th time. Also Noel your “great Wallabies” certainly did you proud last year didn’t they so don’t be too quick to call the Kiwis chokers in future champ. JWH

I certainly hope the Victorian coronavirus spike is a wakeup call to the people criticising Annastacia Palaszczuk for keeping our borders closed. She is doing a great job caring for the health of Queenslanders. We won’t be caring about business if we end up with visitors carrying the virus spreading it at the

rate that it is spreading in Victoria. I have always voted LNP but she has my vote this time. 4217

Can someone check the World rugby ratings before our world champion Kangaroos play this mismatched expectation … shouldn’t we play the best … the mighty Springboks?

All this negativity about

Does this mean may get the chop like One can only hope. bistro bob

To nameless (29th) boo hooing that everyone is accusing the Qld Premier of sending thousands of businesses broke by refusing to reopen the border. How about you meet the 4 fantastic staff I had to lay off at my tourism business and to see them struggling to pay their mortgage, rent, bills and put food on the table. I bet you young ones who are agreeing with the Premier are being fed and clothed by mummy who does your washing and even has to make your bed and you don’t even give her a cent for board. Us baby boomer generation offered to pay our mothers some board money as soon we got our first job when we left school at age 14 and went to work. How many of you young ones from this current generation contribute to your family like our generation did with some board money? You should be giving your mother $50 a week, even out of your dole money if you care for her. KenW

Well we don’t have any virus and as long as our health bosses look after the returning travellers we should be good to open all the businesses. But don’t count on it from our union-led Premier. She is dragging the chain big time for whatever political gain she can get. I think she is taking the wrong advice and is heading for a big fall. Businesses are struggling, people are not able to return to some sort of normal living. Come on Premier. BillyBob

ABC funding “cut to the bone” says DJ Fraser. What a boneheaded comment when the biased, leftie monolith gets more than a billion dollars of taxpayers’ money each year. It should be shut down or sold to private enterprise. Hondo

It’s sad that GC business leaders crying to have borders reopened need New South Welshmen and Melburnians to keep their businesses afloat. Sounds like your marketing skills need some finetuning! Observer

What a very big statement … “Majority eat pizza, breakfast lunch and dinner.” What is that based on?

From my unit I have seen all whales released by SeaWorld experts. They are never hurt much and never killed. However the surfers are often killed by sharks. It’s a nobrainer. Keep shark nets.
