MooGoo on move with new UK deal

HOMEGROWN skincare company MooGoo has taken another step towards spreading its brand throughout the UK market after a major pharmacy chain decided to stock its products.

MooGoo, which began in 2005 after founder Craig Jones developed a cream in his Gold Coast kitchen to help his mother with her psoriasis, has had its products stocked by Holland & Barrett.

The health food store chain decided to stock MooGoo in 550 of its stores in the UK after seeing demand surge for online orders by 90 per cent in March.

CEO Melody Livingstone, who joined the company earlier this year from Dominos, said the Holland & Barrett deal is a significant step for the Burleigh-based business.

“Having a presence in the likes of Lloyds and now Holland & Barrett does so much for our brand awareness,” she said.

“It also has credibility associated with it. We have been trying to build our brand over the years so this is a great result.”

MooGoo is already stocked in 112 Lloyds stores giving it a combined network with Holland & Barrett of 662 shops.

Ms Livingstone said surge in March online sales was a result of a “panic buying” during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK and Australia.

“Since March our online sales across the board in Australia and the UK are also up more than 80 per cent,” Ms Livingstone said.

“We have had a lot of people come to us looking for relief for skin problems, mostly caused by continuous washing of hands or using harsh antibacterial hand sanitisers.

“There is also a lot of anxiety surrounding the pandemic, which seems to have increased eczema, psoriasis and other skin flare ups.”

MooGoo’s ‘hero’ products are its Eczma Psoriasis Cream and Skin Milk Udder Cream.

In 2018 the brand was swamped with orders in the UK after a British newspaper shared a before-and-after success story from teacher Megan Underwood.

Ms Underwood said she suffered redraw skin which left her hospitalised and ‘looking like a burns victim’ before using the Udder Cream, which had ‘cured’ her eczema.
