MORE than 7000 people were busted speeding through Gold Coast school zones between 2018 and 2019, TMR data has revealed.

A total of 7263 speeding fines were issued in school zones on the Gold Coast and Logan, according to Department of Transport and Main Roads data.

The information was released by major motoring body RACQ, with spokesperson Renee Smith urging drivers to take care.

“Reduced speed limits are put in place at schools for the safety of children and adults alike,” she said. “Roads around schools are always high-risk and busy areas, with students walking and riding or being dropped off and picked up by their parents.”
