Forster’s faith just the tonic for Taylor

- NATHAN EXELBY

TAYLOR Marshall hopes Saturday’s Glasshouse win on Krone will serve as the catalyst for him to take the next step in his career.

Krone was Marshall’s third career stakes winner and first since Mishani Hustler two years ago.

A blossoming partnership with Desleigh Forster has been the catalyst for Marshall to re-emerge on the scene and he took his first opportunity for the Tony Gollan stable with both hands on Saturday.

“I feel like I am coming into my own as a rider and personally I hope this can be a mini breakthrough in terms of career and longevity. That’s the game plan,” he told Radio TAB’s Past the Post.

“I’m so grateful for Desleigh’s support. She stuck by me so solidly.

“I can’t thank her enough, she’s been throwing me a quality calibre of horse and that makes all the difference.

“You have to match the support with winners and I feel I am doing that and riding in career best form at the moment.”

Marshall rode Exhilarates at 49kg in the Stradbroke last month and has no trouble riding the 54kg limit week-toweek, which at times makes him the envy of some other riders in the room.

“I put myself in the one percenters where I eat whatever I want and not have to worry about my weight,” he said.

“I get a few dirty looks in the room when I’m hooking into the food on offer and they’re in and out of the spa or sauna. I’m very fortunate.”
