Selfish disregard for rules has left us all on knife edge
WHAT COVID-19 disasters we see in the USA are beginning to manifest here, in the eastern states, especially in Victoria and now in NSW.
Opening our borders to NSW and other states, apart from Victoria, creates challenges for our economy, police and officials.
It puts all rule-abiding Queenslanders on a knife’s edge.
Some selfish southerners don’t play by the rules.
We have been disciplined about the dangers in our isolation period. To know that Victorians willingly entered our state with false claims and paperwork, shows a total disregard for all Queenslanders and the time we remained at home, isolated from each other for the benefit of each other. No fine large enough.
Many Victorian cars are present in Queensland. There are always the few who do their own thing, regardless. Not a thought for the outcomes we already see in rural NSW, forcing its government to tighten restrictions for the state once again. It only takes one.
Those carrying the virus, intentionally or inadvertently, are putting us all on alert and maybe our economy, just coming out of hibernation, to once again, be put in jeopardy. It is an invisible enemy, aided and abetted by the unthinking is mindless, with no thought for others.
Like the bushfires, spot fires will continue to create hardship and anxiety for years, by those who are a law unto themselves.
This kind of selfish attitude is rampant in our society, with costly consequences for all subject to the same social and economic consequences.
The defiant risk-takers aim to destroy the livelihood and security of our communities, without conscience.
