Harry accused Wills of ‘snobbery’ towards Markle
PRINCE Harry felt his brother William was being a “snob” towards Meghan Markle when he referred to the American as “this girl”, according to a blockbuster new book.
The conversation was reportedly the key moment that sparked the rift between the brothers, which ultimately tore the royal family apart.
Finding Freedom, which is being serialised in The Times and The Sunday Times in London, has exposed the conversation that made Prince Harry so angry he ditched his royal duties for good.
Prince William had asked his brother about whether he was sure he should marry the former Suits actor.
“Don’t feel you need to rush this,” Prince William told Prince Harry, according to sources. “Take as much time as you need to get to know this girl.” Prince Harry, according to authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, was incensed at Prince William’s tone and the fact he called Markle — “this girl”.
“Harry was pissed off,” a source said in the book.
“Pissed off that his brother would ask such a thing. Some felt it was an over-reaction. But then, this sums them up as people – William, the calm and rational one, and Harry, who can’t help but take things far too personally.”
Another friend added that “Harry could see through William’s words – he was being a snob.”
But friends of William and Kate last night hit back, claiming the couple had “rolled out the red carpet” for Meghan.
The friends claimed Catherine even personally cooked vegan meals for her.
The book also reveals that a senior royal referred to Meghan as “Harry’s showgirl”.
The Sunday Times has previously reported that Harry’s grandfather, Prince Philip, 99, had said that “one steps out with actresses, one doesn’t marry them”.
The book also claimed a high-ranking staffer was overheard telling a colleague: “There’s just something about her I don’t trust.”
Prince Harry, 35, and Markle, 38, now live in California in a home belonging to Oprah’s pal Tyler Perry, with their oneyear-old son Archie.
They are about as far away as they possibly can be from Prince William.
