IT’S disgusting how those teenagers have no regard for others, thinking only about themselves, disregarding all the rules for their own selfish motives, knowing they were putting others in danger and just didn’t care. $4000 fine is a joke. If, by their selfish, it’s-allabout-me actions, they cause any deaths they should be held accountable and the full letter of the law imposed. Sickofit

Those two morons who travelled from Victoria and lied to authorities should go to jail. They should have a conviction recorded. Everyone who is concerned about this should send an e-mail or letter to the Premier. Ordinary law-abiding people should demand action here. Joan

There is only one place to make those two girls who returned from Melbourne to isolate and that is Christmas Island. That way there is no chance of them escaping and spreading the virus unless they are good swimmers. They are proven liars and will not do the right thing if isolated here. So come on Peter Dutton let’s increase the population in detention on the island to six. Geoffrey

Maybe those two who deliberately lied and then socialised all around the place should be put into ISO in a woman’s prison for 6 months to set an example to others who want to try it. Disgusting and soooo selfish behaviour! VR

OK Premier, put your threats to the test. Anybody intentionally illegally crossing borders – jail! Or is that BS as well? Waz1

Most accurate comment of 2020 came from Suns Chairman Tony Cochrane on marketing the Gold Coast. “Young people care about one thing only – themselves – and so lifestyle is everything”. Barbara Mathieson

These people who seem to believe they have superior rights all suffer from an inferior IQ.

Six months jail for the two girls who brought COVID into Qld. If anyone they have contacted dies, then it is manslaughter. Sick of people like them showing no respect. Kay

To unnamed yesterday, if someone smokes a joint, he doesn’t die, and there are no innocent third party casualties. If someone drives down the road on the phone, high possibility of an accident and possibly multiple casualties. It should be $10,000 and then that call won’t feel so important. Chopper

I’m amused seeing all these young vegan people spruiking their plant-based wellness lifestyle but at the same time smoke like troopers and drink

like fish. Hypocrites! Onlooker

GCCC, while the bridge builders are here extend Rio Vista to Etna St as planned ... and others. The city is growing, so let’s go and let’s grow.

Simple solution to the “Isis” brides and their baggage. Leave them in Syria, end of story. robbo the realist

David Sullivan, a Gold Coast businessman, has been building fauna crossings for our native animals to safely negotiate busy roads and highways for years. He has worked for several councils in the southeast and his results are amazing and nowhere near the cost of ‘Tug boat’ Tommy’s pie in the sky proposal. Check out his website. Keith I.O.C

A quick question please. Who tells the koalas they have a bridge to cross?

All you people who wanted our borders open, this is the result, so stop your whining when we are in lockdown AGAIN!

Colby Hyland is a little legend. I was born 70 odd years ago with congenital cataracts. It’s been a long journey but a happy one so far, now having some vision in one eye. All the best for a wonderful life Colby. Medicine has made many advances!

We choose! ‘Broke and healthy’ or ‘Broke and dead’. Shut the gate mate. Doc

Termite tip for new home builders – ask your builder to price & build using termite treated construction materials. That is the norm in Nth Qld & should be same here. Construction industry & related bodies should be supporting & lobbying to make this change. Buying & building cheap can cost you dearly. Ted

Freddie, just got back from Cairns. GC was the dearest in just about every servo, some cheaper by 40c a ltr. Ron, R/Bay

I live in Palm Beach and I’m not an activist, just a retiree who enjoys life in such a beautiful place. I am concerned about the poor planning for the light rail. The Gold Coast Hwy will be reduced to 2 lanes and this will send traffic down suburban streets that are already busy and have a primary school. We already see this when the M1 has an accident so it will only get worse. I’m not against the light rail, it just needs better planning. Margaret

I’d like people who are so in favour of the light rail going through Palm Beach to explain a few things. Is one lane each way moving forward or going back decades? It’s going to be one long traffic jam. And then you see buses empty going down the road what is the fascination with LR system that is outdated in many cities? 4221

PS, learnt stuff I never knew about Miss Joplin in 5-minute drive to IGA. Thanks 94.1! JB
