How can someone get no conviction recorded for six charges including dangerous driving evasion driving at 170 km hour in a stolen car? Breaking into a chemist, stealing a cash register and more. And someone else get caught smoking a joint or bong get a conviction recorded. Emily Rose, Tallebudgera

In response to the text sending parents to Melbourne Nursing Home. I work in that sector and l can tell you now that l don’t dance and sing all around the place. When for 150 residents with only 5 carers after my 10 hour shift l can hardly walk. And no they are not self caring. High care, Dementia and Confused. Dont even talk about the wages. Woolies pay better. Royal Commission has done absolutely nothing to change the Industry. Nurse.

A MONTH out from the election and Anastasia and the gang decide to open up the border to a few more visitors. Are these people expected to quarantine or can they just come and go as they please? Does it mean that the bubble is open at the northern end of the gold coast, or won't they be allowed to travel north from here? Just watch the queues at the border checkpoints explode. You will need to allow at least 1-2 hours just to get through.

DOUG needs to get a dose of reality too ... our coach of the mighty Brumbies obviously is going to be in for an invitation to coach the Wallabies down the line. Go Dan. Noel

CAN’T believe it has taken a pandemic and financial meltdown for Qantas to finally realise the wallabies were a rubbish investment. Slab

IN reply to the letter in GCB from Labor Party candidate claiming Labor is creating jobs, maybe you can explain to us how 35,000 new full time jobs were created nationally last month, but only 195 of those were here in QLD? Scotty

IT is both predictable and hilarious that after Palaszczuk’s tough heartless stance on our borders, and her “I won’t be moved” speeches, that with election looming as soon as new polls this week show support for her has dropped significantly, suddenly our border restrictions are miraculously eased!

I AGREE with Ken when he reacted to defend the writers who mentioned they are retired, who are proud of their 50 years of work and paying tax. But Ken hit the nail on the head when he mentioned that so many of this current generation are leaving

school, no intention of finding work, and simply retiring at the age of 18. I am devastated at the thought of it. Walter, Hope Island.

IF Deb Frecklington is not happy about a few jobs going to the only people who can do it. (Canadian pilots). what is her opinion on Morrison’s idea to bring in tens of thousands of immigrants to take the jobs of more than 1 million unemployed Australians. Or will it be okay for Morrison’s LNP gov to insult Australian workers if she is premier ?

GOOD to see the turf club with big plans for the future. BUT. What about the trotting track and show grounds we lost 7 years ago. Meanwhile our top grade horses are expected to race around goat track at Redcliffe. Trot on

CHEF for major transport company (also one of my house-mates) needed a hand. Had a day free, so put hand up to help him out. Some mincey, cheffy thingy he did was deemed “bland” by big, burly, beefy truckies. On hearing this, and I swear this is 100% true, chef scooped up biggest handful of salt I’d even seen and threw it into his “gourmet” mincey creation. Ah that’s better, said truckies, (who’re probably dead by now due to excess salt in their diet!) Anyhow, just wanted to share that snippet with you. Stay lurgy free. Jo B

TALK about the pot calling the kettle black. Ken Wade (GCB 23/9) now tells us to write about something positive for a change. This is the same NSW resident that continually bags anything at all about the Premier of QLD, wants bats killed, wants sharks destroyed and has disparaging Letters regarding the Qld-NSW border being closed. Who is the negative one here? Diamond

OH what a beauty Ken, those words of wisdom directed at both the doomsday climate change warriers might let them know we are fed up with all this climate rubbish. Being a county girl i am aware of the way the greenies have treated the farmers including my own parents with utter contempt. Maree retired county teacher.

HERE “it” goes again. The no name stalker of my Chatroom comments. My text was a sarcastic attack on my own sense of humour. Joke Joyce. LS

SYDNEY car owner gets fine for a slightly open window. Everyone knows thieves don’t need an open window to steal your car these days. So council thinking is as old as their knowledge of today’s technology. Here’s a tip Sydney council: ditch the stupid law and move into the 21st century. Doug

WHY do so many Queenslanders go to Tweed Hospital which is in NSW? Wake up, this is Australia. Not the country of Queensland. Or the country of NSW.
