THIS WEEK: HOW CAN I KEEP MY JOB FRESH AND EXCITING?

When you are in the same job for a while, little changes can add up to a lot and give you a new attitude.

Can you sit at a different desk?

When you come back to your workplace after COVID, ask to sit somewhere else.

A new location opens up your connection to different people, and a new environment – like a new job – can make a difference.

Ask your boss for a career mentor to help you with what you are currently doing

Can you dress differently?

If you are working from home in your PJs, that can grind on your job.

Get up, get dressed, even if working from home.

That invigorates and brings back passion for what you’re doing.

Can you undertake some studies?

We should all be learning constantly whether it’s a one-day course, a one-hour YouTube session or a degree. Discuss it with your boss.

Ask, “Is there a budget for training?”. You might want an MBA or Certificate in Digital Marketing.

Ask your boss for a career mentor to help you with what you are currently doing.

If you have a plan for your future, it makes where you are now a bit more exciting.

You might say you want a new job in three years, so you are going to practise in your current job for a new job.

Can you take on new projects?

Go out of your way to ask for new projects because your employer is paying you to practise something and become an expert in something – it’s a win-win.

When people feel they are not enjoying their job anymore it’s because they have lost sight of their future plan.

Ask yourself: what is my job not giving me that I need to add to it?

It can change your whole outlook.
