Do you get your five a day?

I love fruit and vegetables. I even love carrots that I chop up and nibble on with a bit of hummus. I am just in heaven en at the moment with ith the mangoes, and the blueberries and the strawberries. Vegies, the only thing I really can’t bear are brussels sprouts. Keep them out of my way and I am a happy woman.

Have you ever dieted?

I learnt a long time ago that a diet is a very negative mental emotion really. If you just try to make your lifestyle as convenient to what you want to do and how you want to be, life is too short to be miserable. I love the fact that I like good food but I cheat and have a lot of things like pork crackling and salt and vinegar chips, and I love french fries. You can have them every once in a while, just try and like the other things – and luckily I do.

Sleep or sex?

r

Sleep. I tell you, I am training at the moment for (stage musical) Pippin, and I last night slept for nine hours, which I cannot remember having slept nine hours in a very long time. I am a bit of an intermittent sleeper, depending on what else is going on in my life.

What is your absolute blow out meal?

It would have to be the old pork, really good roast pork with fabulous crackling and all of those wonderful vegetables done in duck fat, followed by some really fabulous wine and a big Black Forest chocolate cake.

Have you had any operations or broken bones?

I have had breast cancer so I got sliced and diced with that but came out very well thank goodness. I had a knee operation on my left knee where I tore a ligament and that was agony. No broken bones, knock on wood.

What is your biggest health mistake?

Not eating regularly. For a long time during my Good Morning Australia days, I never ate breakfast. I was just too busy and then by 11am your mind would turn into marshmallow or cotton wool. So if you really have to work quite mentally, you really have to put a bit of fuel in your body. My biggest other health mistake, I don’t think it is unhealthy to drink, it just depends on the benchmark. Does your drinking interfere with your life and your relationships and your job? Luckily, mine never has.

Do you take any regular vitamins?

I take vitamin B, I take turmeric, olive oil. I just reach in to the cupboard and find out what comes out the other side.

What health advice would you have given yourself 10 years ago?

Probably to exercise more. There is no question, in terms of the shape of your body, which you can dramatically improve. Also mentally if you are fitter, healthier, you think better, you perform better and you can do your job a lot better. It doesn’t have to be mad gym work, it can literally be going for a nice paced walk with your dog several times a week.
