AFTER months of doubt, Bleach* Festival is not wasting a minute, getting ready to launch celebrations from the crack of dawn.

The 11-day Bleach* 2020 program will run from November 12 to 22, starting with a 5am ceremony and ending with a sundown performance.

Three precincts – Burleigh Heads, Chevron Island and the Botanic Gardens in Benowa – will transform into homes of arts and culture.

The program invites attendees to be “adventurous, step into someone else’s shoes for an afternoon or evening (and) escape from the everyday with an unexpected experience”.

For Bleach* CEO and artistic director Rosie Dennis, the event will be to bring people together.

“In a year where disruption and uncertainty has hovered over the entire world a festival of any kind seemed an impossibility,” she said.

“I’m thrilled to bring this year’s festival to you, in real life, across three unique hubs (and) to tell the stories of this place, in this time.”

The annual Bleach* Festival was planned for August but was rescheduled to be held from November 12 to 22.

The event is a celebration of the city’s best artists, musicians and contemporary art, music, cabaret and dance.

Mayor Tom Tate said: “It celebrates our way of life, it challenges us to think about our world and our relationships. More than anything else, it makes us laugh and smile. A perfect antidote to challenging times.”
