- ROSEMARY BALL rosemary.ball@news.com.au

SAMANTHA Blake has been painting famous faces for more than seven years and now has been crowned the best makeup artist on the Gold Coast.

The Upper Coomera mum has been tirelessly working on the set of the Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic “Kat King” since filming resumed in September, and her creative work has caught the attention of Gold Coast makeup lovers.

The public gave more than one thousand reviews on social media for our “Best of the Gold Coast” competition and Bulletin subscribers chose Blake Designs Makeup Artistry as the winner.

Mrs Blake said being named best in the region was “a big surprise and an honour”.

“It’s so nice to be recognised for my work,” she said.

“I love working on movie sets, and working with Lorna Jane and Sophie Guidolin under the direction of Alana Mevissen. But I adore doing weddings, formals and every other event in between too.”

Her go-to products include, Fenty Beauty’s Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer, Becca Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector, Benefit’s Hoola Matt Bronzing Powder, Benefit’s BADgal BANG! Volumizing Mascara, Tarte’s Shape Tape Contour Concealer and MAC’s Blushbaby Powder Blush.

When asked for her best beauty hacks, Ms Blake said: “Less makeup makes you look younger, always dampen your beauty sponge or blender, always do your smokey eyes before putting on your foundation and make sure you buy a light and dark foundation so you always have the right colour to suit your skin throughout the year.”
