Nudist on notice for naughty behaviour
WHILE many hit the shops to get more clothes, a man was arrested at a beach on Boxing Day for not having enough.
Police conducted a patrol of Tyagarah Beach on Boxing Day after lewd behaviour complaints.
At about 3pm they found a man walking naked through the dunes at the Byron Bay beach. The 45-year-old was outside of the “clothing-optional” area and was issued with an infringement notice for offensive conduct.
The area has caught police attention before, with the beach strip the subject of lewd sexual behaviour for a number of years.
In 2017, NSW police launched a sting at the “clothes-optional” strip of beach at Byron Bay after a spate of dirty sexual behaviour. Police said at the time the Tyagarah Lakes and beach area was a well-known meeting place for hanky panky.
“It’s well known to us as a haunt for particular members of the community,” a senior officer said several years ago, noting people had been sexually propositioned in the middle of the day and a 28-yearold tourist had to run for help after being indecently assaulted by a partially clothed man in his 50s.
He was later charged with offences including detaining a person with the intent to commit a serious offence, committing an act of indecency and indecent assault.
On other occasions men have been seen masturbating naked on the beach in the middle of the day and police have arrested nude beachgoers for possessing drugs.
