AN electrician allegedly doing cocaine with two police officers and a stripper at a birthday in a Star Gold Coast penthouse suite was caught on tape complaining he made lines too big.

Daniel James Rutt, at the birthday party at The Darling hotel on June 27 last year, was caught on surveillance doing cocaine and MDMA.

The hotel room had been bugged by the police Ethical Standards Command. The surveillance caught Rutt, 28, saying: “Whenever I pour out coke I don’t know how much to pour out because my lines get bigger and bigger.”

Rutt makes reference to getting the music speakers fixed before the “titty girls” got to the hotel room.

The party was allegedly to celebrate police officer Zachary Maidment’s birthday. It is alleged fellow Rapid Action Patrol officer Todd David was also at the party. Both face multiple drug-related charges including possession of cocaine and MDMA. Maidment has also been charged with supplying drugs, permitting use of place, possessing property suspected of being used in relation to a crime and possessing anything used in the commission of a crime.

Maidment’s ex-girlfriend stripper Tyana Hansen, who has starred in Ultra Tune TV ads with Charlie Sheen, Mike Tyson and Pamela Anderson, was fined $1500 in November last year after she admitted to doing cocaine off the buttocks of another woman at the party.

Rutt pleaded guilty in the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday to possessing a restricted drug and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Reece Foort read out excerpts of conversations caught in the bugged hotel suite. Sgt Foort told the court Rutt made multiple references to cocaine and was seen cutting lines.

“If we get a line in, we will feel better,” he said at one stage.

Rutt also asked to borrow nosehair clippers to make it easier for him to snort cocaine.

In another conversation Rutt asked Maidment, who he referred to as “Milkman” how many “pingas” he had done.

Maidment allegedly replied: “Half, I’ve got half and there is still a bag left”.

Sgt Foort said when police returned to retrieve their surveillance equipment after the party, white powder which tested positive for cocaine was found on many of the benchtops.

The court was told when Rutt’s Robina home was raided on August 1 police also found some Viagra tablets.

Magistrate Mark Howden placed Rutt on an $800 good behaviour bond for six months with the condition he complete a drug diversion program. No conviction was recorded.

“You have in a somewhat spectacular way come to the attention of police,” he said. “You will need to conduct yourself very carefully in the future.”

Defence solicitor Mollie Roper, of Cooper Maloy Legal, said Rutt was going through a tough time when the offending occurred: “He accepts it was not an appropriate way to deal with the stressors in his life.”

Ms Roper said Rutt was “mortified” by the allegations.

Maidment and David are expected to appear in court again later this month.
