Charges over theft of $20k worth of high-end pleasure items
POLICE have charged a 31year-old man after a Gold Coast adult shop robbery where more than $20,000 worth of high-end sex toys were allegedly stolen and marked for sale on the black market.
Helensvale father Dylan Edward Nikeller is behind bars on remand after being charged with a number of offences including entering a premises with intent and receiving tainted property in relation to the December 18 heist at Sexy World, Nerang.
He had his matter mentioned in the Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday and will return to court next month. It is understood Nikeller told police he did not steal the items but had been paid to keep them for another person.
Police arrested the man on December 29 after the adult shop was stripped of almost $20,000 worth of high-end sex toys days before Christmas.
A large number of high-end sensual electronic items, which cost up to $300 each, were stolen.
A “large tub” of opened “store testers” sex toys and “lucky dip” items was also taken in the break-in.
It is understood about one third of the stolen items have been recovered by police and had price tags on them.
One packet of the toys was located in the bedroom of Nikeller’s Helensvale property.
At the time it left manager Carina Thacker frustrated whilst store owner Danielle Patmore now has a message for any unsuspecting customers who may be purchasing the goods: they’re cheaper at the source.
“Many of the items have come back with price stickers on the goods for double the price we were selling them at,” she said.
A further $10,000 worth of adult toys were stolen in the early hours of Christmas morning from Sexy World, but police investigations into this robbery are ongoing.
Ms Patmore said police had done a “wonderful job” returning some of the goods stolen and she hoped to recover the rest.
Nikeller is also facing court over a raft of drug-related offences and will return to court on February 9.
