In June last year, Queensland Racing Integrity Commission stewards charged 15 participants over the matter.

The charges relate to allegedly procuring substances but not administering, which is a more serious charge.

On Tuesday, QRIC announced that seven participants had been fined for breaching Australian Rule of Racing 256(2)(a)(iii).

The rule states a person must not have in his or her possession or on his or her premises any medication, substance or preparation which has not been registered, labelled, prescribed, dispensed or obtained in accordance with applicable Commonwealth and State legislation.

Trainer Darryl Gardiner, trainer Kevin Miller and jockey and former trainer Mark Barnham pleaded guilty to the charges and were fined $1000, former foreman Andrew Minton was found guilty and fined $2000 and stable hand Christopher Tapiolas, trainer Ian Shaw and Gold Coast trainer John Zielke were found guilty and fined $1000.

QRIC said inquiries were ongoing and yet to be completed for the remaining eight participants; Jared Wehlow, Ricky Vale, Benjamin Williams, Toni Schofield, Steven Royes, Darryl Hansen, Kristy Best and Trinity Bannon who are facing the same alleged breaches of the rules.
