Seven arrests after a series of police raids

SEVEN people were arrested after police uncovered drugs and weapons during a series of raids across the Gold Coast.

Police say they seized a quantity of drugs including cocaine, ketamine, cannabis, MDMA, LSD and GBL, along with a rifle, handgun, taser and knuckledus­ters from residences in Upper Coomera, Pimpama, Ormeau Hills and Tugun on January 7.

A small amount of cash was also seized, police said.

Acting Detective Inspector Michael Corby said it followed a lengthy investigat­ion into the group.

“A number of different quantities of drugs were seized from each of the premises. Seven people were charged with serious offences – just over 40 offences in total including a number of people who are charged with traffickin­g in dangerous drugs and supplying dangerous drugs,” he said.

Those arrested included:

An 18-year-old Upper Coomera man was charged with four counts of supplying dangerous drugs, three counts of unlawful possession of weapon and two counts of traffickin­g dangerous drugs. He will appear in Southport Magistrate­s Court on February 4.

An 18-year-old Pimpama man was charged with one count each of traffickin­g dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possess property suspected of being used in connection of a drug offence, unlawful possession of weapon. He is next due to appear in Southport Magistrate­s Court on February 4.

A 20-year-old Ormeau Hills man was charged with four counts of supplying dangerous drugs, and one count of traffickin­g dangerous drugs. He will appear in Southport Magistrate­s Court on January 12.

A 21-year-old Ormeau Hills woman was charged with three counts of supplying dangerous drugs. She is due to appear in Southport Magistrate­s Court on January 21.

A 25-year-old Tugun man was charged with five counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of supplying dangerous drugs and one count each of traffickin­g dangerous drugs, possess relevant substances. He is next due to appear in Southport Magistrate­s Court on February 11.

A 23-year-old Tugun man was charged with five counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of supply dangerous drugs and possessing relevant substances. He will appear in Southport Magistrate­s Court on January 22.

A 45-year-old Tugun man was charged with one count of possessing dangerous drugs and issue a Notice to Appear in Southport Magistrate­s Court on January 28.
