Transparency needed on light rail study
SALLY DOBSON, PALM BEACH
MINISTER Mark Bailey, many people are still wondering when the community consultation for stage 4 of the light rail is going to occur and where the shopfront in Palm Beach will be located.
I have previously expressed my concern about the legitimacy of this consultation phase when it appears to just be ticking boxes for you.
We have all seen the pretty artist impressions for stage 4 and we don’t want to, in your words, “view videos and images of what a completed project COULD look like”.
The community want facts, we want technical reports, we want the truth.
I am aware that requests have been made to access the original Burleigh Heads to Tugun Multi-modal Corridor Study by not just myself but by the local state member Michael Hart, by the local councillor Daphne McDonald and by other members of the public.
Each request has been denied by your office without a valid reason.
Where is the transparency and what are you hiding?
Why do we not have access? Among many questions, I would like to know what the criteria was in coming to the decision on the coastal route?
The community are the ones directly affected by your decision-making, we deserve transparency and honesty, so why are you not forthcoming?
I look forward to your response here, however I would appreciate it if you would please answer these questions directly and omit your usual reply recounting Labor v Liberal past achievements. The election is over.
