HIGH TIME KILLER DRIVER OWNED HIS CULPABILITY

-

THE Hofstee family has suffered enough and waited far too long for justice. Puneet Puneet needs to man up and face the consequences for running over and killing Gold Coast student Dean Hofstee at Southbank, Melbourne in October 2008.

In 2009, Puneet pleaded guilty for causing the 19-year-old’s death, but since then he has effectively been on the run, harboured in India as Australian authorities chase an extradition hearing.

He has offered excuse after excuse for refusing to return to Australia – too ill, scared for his safety here …

Dean Hofstee had his whole life in front of him and for 13 years Puneet Puneet has failed to acknowledge or show remorse for what he took. Mr Hofstee’s family and friends have never stopped fighting for justice for Dean.

In 2015 when Puneet had done another runner, Mr Hofstee’s best friend Daniel Glaubert told the Bulletin: “It’s disappointing. Since it first happened it seems as if he’s (Puneet) had excuses. He’s never admitted to what he has done.

“He needs to realise what he has done and the hurt he has caused to so many different people. Dean was an honest person – he was a great friend of mine.

“Dean was a man. If this was a situation going on, he’d be the first to stand up and face the music. He (Puneet) should stand up as a man and face the music. He’s never really taken responsibility for what he has done.”

For more than a decade Puneet Puneet has chosen to be a coward. He was drunk and speeding as a learner driver the day he mowed down an innocent stranger.

For just once in his life, he needs to be a man.
