FIGHTIN’ WORDS
GOLD Coast boxing heavyweight Jamie Porter has called out former AFL star Barry Hall to take him on as an opponent in the ring.
Porter vowed to tear Hall apart piece by piece, starting with his “big, bald head” and his “please punch me face”.
GOLD Coast heavyweight boxer Jamie Porter has issued a scathing challenge to AFL great Barry Hall, labelling the former Swans, Saints and Bulldogs hardman’s face as the most punchable he had ever seen.
Porter’s Townsville bout with Australian champion Justis Huni was scratched this
week after Huni suffered a concussion while training.
With no opponent available to take out his frustrations on, Porter has called out Hall, who also resides on the Gold Coast.
“I’m p **** ed off but I’m not going to stop because the other guy has pulled out,” Porter said.
“I’m ready to go for a next opponent … and I want to
fight Barry Hall. He’s got the biggest ‘please punch me’ face I’ve ever seen.
“I’ve love to fight him. “I’m not going there to win on points, I’m going there to rip him to pieces.
“I’ll start with his big, bald head and hopefully take his jaw off when I hit him with some left and right hands.
“He did a bit of amateur boxing when he was going
through the AFL, when he was a bit of a hard man on the field.
“But it’s a different story when you’re in the ring and there’s only you and me – I’m not an AFL boy.
“I’ll pick him apart slowly, make him give up.
“It’s more embarrassing that way.”
Porter has his eye on a late April fight night on the Gold
Coast, giving himself and Hall around four months to prepare for a bout.
Porter said it was plenty of time to get ready.
“I was happy to fight Justis with five weeks’ notice,” he said.
“I’m p **** ed off (to lose the Huni fight) but now I’ve got even longer to get ready.
“Hopefully I can take it out on Barry’s big head.”
