13 BAIL BREACHES IN 13 MONTHS

But don’t worry state leaders, alleged killer is out of jail next week and we still can’t name him

- LEA EMERY

A MAN charged with the murder of Gold Coast teenager Jack Beasley has been jailed for again breaching bail – the 13th time since March 2020 – but will be back in the community by next week.

It comes as it was revealed a man accused of raping a woman in a Sufers Paradise park earlier this week was on bail for other rape charges.

A MAN accused of raping a woman in a Surfers Paradise park near the Tiki Village on Wednesday morning was on bail for other rape charges.

The 20-year-old man was to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday to faces three charges including rape, assault with intent to commit rape and breaching bail.

Defence lawyer Ashleigh Clark, of Allen & Searing Criminal Lawyers, said she did not need her client to be brought into the courtroom. He did not apply for bail. Police will allege the man raped a homeless woman in a park at Cavill Ave in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Police were called to the scene about 5.45am.

The man cannot be named under Queensland law that prohibits the identification of people charged with sexual offences until they are committed to trial or plead guilty.

Ms Clark asked for a brief of evidence to be compiled.

Magistrate Cameron McKenzie ordered the brief be compiled by June 17. The matter will return to the Southport Magistrates Court on July 1.

The Bulletin can reveal that the man was charged on February 18 with three counts of rape alleged to have occurred in Macintosh Park, Surfers Paradise, on February 17.

He was also charged with three counts of assault with attempt to commit rape and sexual assault.

The February incident is alleged to have involved a different woman.

Magistrate Pamela Dowse gave the man bail on February

22. Part of those bail conditions was that he not leave his home between 5pm and 6am.

Those matters will return to court on May 13.

The man was also charged with breaching bail on March

22. That charge will be before the courts on May 20.
