INTERESTING to see the short-sightedness of our great leaders. There are two issues that concern me.

First Bruce Bishop Carpark, in the heart of the Gold Coast that is struggling for any parking at all, and they think to sell it as it’s too hard to plan and spend.

I think that should become a multi-level 24-hour carpark, the ground floor being a park to rival Southbank with fountains, pools, shade, etc, suitable for families to enjoy for years to come.

The council says they favour the arts, etc, but this shows the emptiness in their thinking. Sell it off and let someone else have the worry. Easy to sell, priceless to replace.

My second point is the blatant lack of thinking to reach the airport by light rail at any cost. Palm Beach is already showing signs of becoming

SCOTT Morrison has finally turned full circle, and signed Australia to zero emissions by 2050. Mr Morrison is now in favour of electric vehicles and that his precious coal is causing catastrophic damage to the planet. In other words the Liberals admit that they were wrong, and that the Greens were right all along. Surprise, surprise.

With the Morrison government’s turnaround, some harsh decisions need to be made. Will the marketing manager be brave enough to make such decisions?

No, he can’t, because his Coalition partners still value the donations by fossil-fuel companies over the welfare of the people.

Never has a government had such a split in policy opinion, than this Morrison government. This means a change of government is needed to have real change in climate policy.

If Australia acted sooner we would be in a very different position.

If they opened more metallurgical mines instead of coal and gas, Australia would increase its exports in the current climate, not phase them down as the COP26 agreement states.

We have an abundance of different metals, which creates thousands of jobs in areas that are most in need.

It is the perfect opportunity to manufacture electric vehicles and develop skills in areas with high unemployment areas.

Instead we will continue to spend billions of dollars in future technology, just another way to siphon our taxpayers’ dollars into the hands of the biggest polluters in the world.
