MESSAGE OF THE DAY: A Federal Court determination under the Native Title Act and any legal challenges to it will answer the the questions of whether native title exists over The Spit, and the extent of any rights and interests. Texters to the Bulletin asking how native title could exist over reclaimed land will then have their answer. I wouldn’t be surprised if this matter goes all the way to the High Court, which has previously ruled, in the case of Croker Island in the NT, that native title can exist over the sea but that such native title cannot confer exclusive ownership of the sea.

I would much rather hear Dermott Brereton commentate AFL than Phil Gould commentate NRL. Stevo

Referendum on change to Constitution, while we are at it how about a question if we want nuclear power. People will speak.

I would like to say thank you to all the staff at the Gold Coast Private Hospital . I was recently in the hospital after being admitted by ambulance through emergency after an accident with a dog , bird and landing on the road with a shattered shoulder and damaged fingers. All the staff were so considerate and caring. Thank you all. Robyn Hope Island

Totally agree Joan (Manly Jumpers) first it has hijacked women in league round. A very special round for the mums and women who took their kids to the footy parks. Then we are homophobic if we will not wear a jersey which isn’t part of your voice/values. I personally will not be bullied into wearing or supporting I don’t agree with. What ever happened to having your own opinion? Bulldogs1man

There remains a clear distinction between the words 'accept' and 'promote'. Most members of our society are happy to accept that some of our number are gay. But while accepting this reality few would see the necessity to promote this. Sportspeople are no different and as long as members of the gay community are not discriminated against in any way then please let everyone get on with their lives without additional pressure being applied. C'mon.

GCCC parking fines absolutely absurd. Mr Baker as new CEO now is your time to shine & stand up. Stop big noting yourself about golden handshake departures & focus on community feedback. Helensvale markets & Regatta Lakes parklands just to name a few unfair fines. No signage & no problems for 10yrs but now wham. Very poor form GCCC. More people should challenge & fight back for common sense & decency. Ted.

Wellcamp answer: round up all the homeless and drop them off to use the accommodation available immediately. Then we will see how many are genuine homeless, my guess 98% are just drugged up alcoholic dirty bums, who will try to catch the first bus back to a cbd footpath near you. Help should be for those that try to help themselves, so now let the do-gooders pile in now. Yogi Bear

Fools with only their own interests at front. All that money wasted on accommodation for Covid isolation. Never to be used. Well, it's there now and instead of spending more millions of taxpayers money why can't you put people in that has lost their homes to floods or loss of jobs. You could charge a reasonable rent and put children into safe housing. Better than build, leave empty than pay to knock it down. Why doesn't our premier or council have the brains to do good for our poor families?

With regards to recycling solar panels, why not put a fee on purchase, like car tyres, so the recyding is paid for up front? Daz R/Bay

Albanese and co were elected because he had a plan to fix everything. Now it’s a plan to have a plan to fix everything. All the finances were available to them before the election so for them to say we inherited these problems is a distraction. Get on with governing PM, the honeymoon is over. Peter

So Peter Gleeson, is advocating a possible Parking Levy of 150$ a year on Rates notices for parking on the “goldie? Is this man for real. Ratepayers are ready being hit with rises in our rates, from this money hungry Council and he wants us to pay more!! Absolute stupidity. Cooly kev. So it is Saturday morning at Lam on Marine Pde Biggera Waters. Time for a sleep in, not. The construction site is in full swing noise, language, you name it. But this goes on unabated because the developers seem to be able to do as they please

Taking bikes on the trams must be a fashion statement. Bamey

The recent text attacks on M from Ashmore show that he or she has hit a nerve of someone who can't handle the truth. Cowardly personal abuse is the usual weapon of those with low intelligence.

Q: What do Italy. Spain. Romania, Bulgaria, and the UK have in common? A: Their governments are taxing big energy companies' excess profits to provide tangible inflation relief for working people. Ajs

I am tired of the waffle that our Gold Coast ‘experts’ on climate change go on with. While we have thousands and thousands of real climate scientists telling us, almost daily, that we are in a lot of trouble unless we take action on reducing our levels of CO2, here on the Gold Coast we have a retired earthmoving driver, a retired coal executive, a delivery driver and a retired project manager all claiming that eminent world scientists don’t know what they are talking about. Who you going to believe? Science Believer

Dr Karl fan. No I’m not comfortable or have my head in the sand, but have been around long enough o know what’s happening now has happened before & the word “unprecedented” is far too overused in the media. John Mc

Hi M Ashmore, I looked at Mann’s cartoon on Saturday and it was just a couple of dinosaurs talking about housing. Where’s this bias you speak of? Crayon

Peter Gleeson, the simple solution would be to enforce several levels of parking building and also commercial retail and offices at the base of all new condensed living buildings (highrises) along the beach. Then concentrate the same building approach along the Ml. This would move condensed living away from the beaches, and also provide for retail/commercial at the base of buildings so cars are used less by those living on the beaches, in addition to providing parking at beach areas for those coming in from the suburbs. Simple. Patrick

Just when I had given up entirely on our politicians, along comes Senator Jacinta Price, hallelujah! You've got a friend in me.
