OFF THE RECORD

-

SOMETIMES it is only when you see something for yourself that the truth becomes blindingly obvious. Such was the case for this wife who decided to surprise her ever-loving husband by dropping into a work function.

As his business had expanded she had never bothered to get involved in socialising with his staff but on a whim, became a surprise guest.

The first thing that struck her as she walked in was how many young blonde women there were in his employ and how he was the centre of their attention. When he spotted her he did look a bit surprised, but dutifully came over and introduced her to all and sundry.

The biggest shock came when she realised that they looked very much as she did when she was his secretary before becoming his second wife. Here’s hoping wife No.3 isn’t auditioning for the role.

FAME can do strange things to people. The good ones understand that it is usually fleeting, but some occasionally start to believe that they truly are something special amongst we mere mortals.

Such was the case with this “legend”, who became almost impossible to deal with during the usual 15 minutes of fame.

Now the sun has set, the spotlight has moved and suddenly the realisation has sunk in that maybe it is time to start being nice to the hoi polloi.

The big problem is that we commoners have very long memories and are not yet ready to forgive and forget.

IT IS always best to keep some secrets in a marriage. His business was one of those that generated quite a bit of cashola, so over the years he skimmed a bit off the top and hid it away for a rainy day.

Being a trusting soul, he proudly told the wife how much he had squirrelled away and more importantly where it was stashed.

Fast-forward to the present and they are now going through a messy divorce.

You won’t be surprised to learn that when she moved out, she also took the opportunity to relieve him of the troublesome burden of dealing with the Glad-wrapped bundles of bills. Live and learn.
