If there had been a Text The Editor column when motor vehicles were replacing horse-drawn carriages, there would have been contributors strident in their views that steam and petrol motors were unreliable, more expensive, would litter the countryside with car bodies and would never replace horse and carts.

Interesting to read that when Queen Elizabeth visited Australia in 1954 our population was around 9 million which today now stands at around 23 million causing the question that the increase of 14 million over the 68yrs was surely due to more immigrants arriving to our shores than those actually born in Australia and if correct is a really scary thought.
