‘Love you, baby bro’ – sis

- LEA EMERY

A bikie associate fatally stabbed in daylight in Brisbane on Monday is the brother of a world champion boxer and recently had serious charges relating to a Gold Coast fight dropped.

Levi Maurice Johnson was killed on Monday afternoon when he was allegedly ambushed outside a gym in Carina Heights.

The 23-year-old was stabbed multiple times.

Police described the alleged attack – which took place in full view of CCTV cameras – as “brazen” and “horrific”, saying Mr Johnson ran from his car after being confronted.

It was not the first time Mr Johnson had been confronted with violence – he was stabbed after an incident in Biggera Waters on October 31 last year.

Police had alleged that Johnson, a Comanchero associate, had been at a Bigger Waters house with acquaintances when a fight broke out.

Johnson and another were accused of leaving before returning to the home with a weapon and tried to set the unit on fire.

Johnson was then allegedly stabbed by a Mongols associate.

Johnson was originally charged with attempted arson and dangerous conduct with a weapon over that incident.

The Bulletin can reveal that those charges were dropped in the Southport District Court on September 1. Johnson had not entered a plea.

Johnson pleaded guilty on September 6 for possessing a dangerous drug. He was convicted and not further punished.

It was revealed on Tuesday that Johnson is also the younger brother of world champion boxer Cherneka “Sugar Neekz” Johnson.

The New Zealand-born Australian bantamweight fighter posted a photo of the pair of them together after his death.

Cherneka fought and beat Mexican boxer Melissa Esquivel in April for the IBF World Super Bantamweight title.

She posts often about her family and paid tribute to Levi on his 21st birthday two years ago.

“I still remember the day my baby brother was born ... happy 21st bro, love you,” she wrote.
