TORN between two lovers: part one. Being slightly absentminded can lead to occasional problems. Usually they are minor but sometimes it can cause tres embarrassing situations. Take this Vera Vague who has been going out on dates with a couple of fellows. Nothing too serious, just dinner and drinks every now and then. She decided to invite one of them over to watch a movie. Just as they were settling down to watch the flick the doorbell rang. It was contestant number two to watch a movie with her. In her permanently addled state she had mixed up the dates and invited both on the same night. Her solution? Simply shrug, introduce them and invite both to stay if they wanted. They did.

TORN between two lovers: part two. Having been in a relationship with her new boyfriend for a year, she decided she wanted to explore her “feminine” side and set to looking on some dating sites. It wasn’t long before she found someone suitable but after a month she decided her boyfriend was more her style and broke off the fling. Unfortunately the other woman in this ménage à trois didn’t take the rejection very well. The term “bunny boiler” – for fans of Fatal Attraction – comes to mind, with endless phone calls, texts and other acts of social mischief. No such fury as a woman scorned. Ask any rabbit.

HERE is a free lesson in management of staff – value those who do a great job. After many a year working tirelessly behind the scenes with neither recognition nor much reward, our boy decided that it was time to leave and see what lay beyond his four grey walls. Surprise, surprise! His skill set and talents were in hot demand and he soon found himself in a bidding war between two employers who knew of his previous great work and wanted him on their team. In an ironic twist, just as he was weighing up which of the two would be the best fit, he received a call. It was from his former boss begging him to come back and help fix a sinking ship. Too late – he’s just boarded a much bigger vessel.
