Tidy profit on Senior’s mansion
THE owner of a waterfront mansion built by Aussie golfing legend Peter Senior has profited $1.45m from the sale of the Hope Island property in just one year.
Senior sold his luxury home complete with putting green in September 2021 to an international buyer who swiftly took it to market again — fetching a huge $5.5m price tag in a cash-unconditional deal.
The renovated five-bedroom, six-bathroom home at 3113 Riverleigh Dr was marketed for auction by Mark Carew, of Professionals Vertullo Real Estate. It passed in, but sold two months later following negotiations with a local buyer who had been the highest bidder on auction day.
Property records show the house was last purchased for $4.05m by Chengfen Huang. The new owner’s identity was not disclosed.
Mr Carew said the vendor owned several properties in the area and hadn’t lived in the Riverleigh Dr home.
The sale price was the highest recorded within the exclusive resort estate.
“Peter Senior and his wife were actually the last residents to live there,” Mr Carew said.
He said the new buyer was customising the alreadyshowstopping home with new flooring, paint and cabinetry before moving in with family.
The two-storey home on a 1477sq m lot has 30m of northfacing water frontage.
Features include an executive office, home theatre with tiered electric seating, stylish kitchen, multiple formal and informal living zones, separate guest quarters, and a fourcar garage.
High-end interior finishes include marble flooring and chandeliers, while statement dual staircases lead upstairs where there’s four bedrooms – the sprawling master suite has a dressing room, ensuite and private balcony.

decks lead onto a huge tiled pool and the signature putting green overlooking the Coomera River.
There’s also a 12m pontoon with a boat winch and two jet ski berths. While the new buyer was a Qld-based entrepreneur, luxury listings were continuing to attract strong interest from interstate buyers, Mr Carew said.
“Auction campaigns certainly do work,” he said.
“They draw out the real buyers who are in the marketplace, so that you have someone to negotiate with to get the deal over the line.”
Senior and his wife June purchased the house in 2000 for $390,000 and have owned several properties within the ritzy golfing and boating
enclave of Hope Island. Senior enjoyed an illustrious golfing career over four decades, winning 34 tournaments around the world and taking home more than $16.6m in prize money.
PropTrack data shows that the median house price in Hope Island is $1.475m, up 38.5 per cent over the past 12 months.
