I don’t care what the legal issues are the state government has a moral obligation to help people of Couran Cove with the issues they are facing. It is an absolute disgrace that a senior citizen of Janne Pitt has been left in the dark. State government, I am sick of your excuses, nothing is ever your fault. Newsflash: It is your responsibility now deal with it. Nan

Unless Gold Coast wants to be renamed Sardine City, a conversation needs to be had about whether high density development is socially sustainable. At the moment, the conversation seems to be all about how to house a never-ending influx of people. That’s insane.

Thump, thump, thump. That’s me banging my head against a wall in frustration. I wrote to council seeking a rates credit for being overcharged as a rental property for several rate bills after my wife and I purchased our home in 2018. I explained that after the first incorrect rates bills, the following ones were charged correctly as a home but we wanted a credit for the earlier overcharges. The reply I received told me to go online and object to our current rates category. Give us a break! My letter to council said the current rates category is correct. Additionally, council’s response, which is probably a standard one, is silent on the question of a refund. I think it’s a result of a council employee not reading and comprehending my letter and doing things by rote instead. Our (overcharged) rates at work.

The “Goldie”, the High Rise capital of Australia what an “eyesore” it has become? Does Gccc care, not while they rake in all Rates etc! Absolute disgrace. COOLY KEV.

What a shame to see Norco in such a financial mess after the massive floods have left them with disaster bill of $142m, and now having to lay off 170 workers. But the Albanese Labor Gov refuses to assist them, yet Albo and Wong are to double the annual foreign aid to over $4bn. Can’t you people see what Albo and Wong are up to, they are more concerned with other countries welfare than their own backyard, and this includes Norco’s crises and the loss of 170 Aussie jobs. All we hear is Save the planet, the environment, etc. We’re not saving anything while Money and Profit is all anyone cares about. RAMBO

Of course rebuilding the Gabba is not worth a billion dollars. The reason is nearly half the cost would be for the demolition of the ground and removal of the debris involved. The problem also is building a new one on virgin land which is cheaper would end up being a white elephant. That’s why I said 12 months ago that if you are going to knock down an old stadium you need to rebuild it with a 45 to 50% increase in capacity (around 60,000) to justify the cost, otherwise it is a waste of taxpayer money for just 8,000 extra seats. That means removing the nearby school and putting Vulture st underground. DS.

Regarding the Palaszczuk Gabba squanderfest, communist organiser Saul Alinsky listed eight steps to topple a nation. Step Two – “Increase the poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.” Step Three – “Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty.” That’s why they’ll blow $2 billion on one aspect of the Olympics nobody wants. Vonnie, Worongary

A billion dollars for 10,000 more

seats at the GABBA and now we are told that might not be enough? Does the Chook have any idea or has the head completely come off as she runs around red carpets going nowhere? GN

Before the frightbats get started on the heavy rain (24/9) being because you own an SUV, they are nothing to do with the “carbon” that they obsess about. They’re the result of the Tonga submarine volcanic eruption. It converted many cubic kilometres of seawater into electrically charged vapour and sent it up through the troposphere and stratosphere and into the mesosphere. As these charged vapour particles circle the earth and drift back down they seed clouds and trigger rain events. Weather Watcher

No name must live in fantasy land. I lived in Sydney 1961-1989. Believe me, there is nothing rare or unusual about NSW railway strikes. Quizzbird

Well said Peter Gleeson the greens

are on notice and so are the flag burners.

I agree with GN. Saturday not only if we burnt an Aboriginal flag but what if we were called white racist name which we do we would be called a whinger if we said anything about it so we just cop it. Captain

To those who burnt the Australian flag – how would you feel if the Aboriginal flag received same treatment? Up in arms I expect. All country flags should have respect and heavy fines. Make it offence.

Yep!!! Getting older every day. The instructions on food cans, packets or whatever say “Pull tab, ring pull to easily open”. Nah !!!! Still need to use a knife or a can opener!!! Annoying and very frustrating. Diz

Rugby is a simple game.. for eighty minutes men run up and down a field and in the end.. the All Blacks win.. Doug

Who are the Wallabies going to

blame for the loss (flogging) this week ..... the ball boys ?? Rangi.

Really!!! The Wallabies answer to the NZ Haka is called a “Boomerang” but is actually an arrow head. Don’t insult the Indigenous heritage. Please make it in the shape of an “actual boomerang” it isn’t that hard. Cobblers2U

My boys still have a sting, go all blacks!

Wallabies one word discipline congratulations All blacks well deserved win and deserved bledisloe holders AGAIN

Geelong Cats Purr-fection!...AFL Fan

One hundred fans at the m.c.g.on Saturday should ask for their money back after watching one team play exceptional football and the other team play well I don’t know what. Buddy and his mates should have rung in sick for all the good they were. They certainly weren’t up to

the standard of grand final footy. Even the bottom side could have beaten them. Go Demons.

How many times are the presenters on the sky news (outsiders) going to bang on about covid and continually play video of police violence in Victoria?

Nothing worse than an ingrate continually whining about what they haven’t got, rather than focusing on the good things they do have, eh?

It’s funny how people had a moan about how much they were banging on about the queen but no one has a moan about how much they keep banging on about the footy, can’t wait till it’s over. Kev Helensvale

Why do the experts name diseases and other ailments such long and complicated names that you can’t understand or pronounce?

Each way Albo needs to get on with running the country the only expertise he has is his sarcasm and nastiness he likes to aim at ScoMo that’s schoolboy behaviour get over it and do what you were elected for.

What’s all the fuss about meals on short flights? Why can’t people eat before boarding? I'm sure that on a 2 hour journey they can do without food. Wocky
