BINE BOSS MAKES PALMY MOVE

- CRYSTAL FOX

THE hospitality boss behind a new Palm Beach bar says it is not a pub, nor a surf club, but was a place where “mates meet mates”.

Tank Bar and Dining opened its doors for the first time on Wednesday January 25 at 1166 Gold Coast Highway in Palm Beach.

Owner Scott Imlach said he had been looking to expand on what he had done with his Mermaid Beach local favourite Bine Bar and Dining.

“Tank will be a place where you can walk straight off the beach and have a beer,” he said.

“A place where mates meet mates.”

He said they had their eye on Palm Beach for a while and pounced on the two-storey venue when it became available.

“Tank is there to create the atmosphere that has been lacking in Palm Beach,” Mr Imlach said.

“It is missing the mid-afternoon to early evening trade that we are hoping to attract. Tank will be the perfect place for a Saturday or Sunday afternoon beer overlooking the ocean”.

Tank Bar and Dining will be fitted with the same logo as “it’s big brother” Bine Bar and Dining and will have the menu to match.

“If you’ve ever visited Bine you’ll know its all about good food, great beer and even better times,” Mr Imlach said.

Tank Bar and Dining will house 10 rotating taps, a variety of canned beverages, frosé, wines and even frozen pina colada’s.

Mr Imlach announced the doors would open at 5pm on Wednesday night and would have “happy hour all night-long”.

The venue would then reopen on Friday and he said they would be hosting a Triple J hottest 100 party as well as the GABS Hottest 100 Craft Beers countdown.
