Tower next to future route of light rail

- ANDREW POTTS

CONSTRUCTION has begun on the southern Gold Coast’s next tower as the wave of development sweeping the border suburbs continues.

The latest project to break ground is Immerse Projects’ seven-storey Rhythm Kirra Hill which will rise next to the future route of the light rail.

The 40-unit boutique project on Garrick St is the brainchild of Immerse boss John Kearney, who also heads its builder, Greyburn Building Contractors.

Mr Kearney said the first residents would move in by late-2024.

“I am pleased to announce that Rhythm Kirra Hill is well and truly underway, and we look forward to seeing our vision come to life over the next 18 months,” he said.

“Demand for premium beachside apartments on the southern Gold Coast is higher than ever, so we are excited to be officially under construction with project certainty to bring this highly-desirable project to life.”

The tower was given the green light in July 2022.

It will be built directly across the road from the suburb’s police station and courthouse, both of which will be demolished to make way for the light rail’s Stage 4 construction.

Its units, a mixture of one, two and three-bedrooms, sell from between $720,000 and $1.3m.

Coolangatta was last year dubbed the sleeping giant” of the Gold Coast property market, with more than $1bn worth of projects in the pipeline.

Big name developers, including Sahba Abedian and Melbourne-based rich lister Max Beck have projects waiting in the wings while prolific Gold Coast builders Paul Gedoun and Spyre Group already have towers coming online.
