Good on you Big Al GCB 25/1. Make Bailey accountable. Sick of the blame game also.
Wise, kind and reflective advice from Sheesh (GCB 25/02/23). Indeed a comfort. May I suggest thick white toast, real butter, vegemite (or one’s preferred extract), a poached egg or two, a cup of tea - all washed down with fresh orange juice. Then we’re ready to take on the world! Rev SF.
To Zab (GCB Text The Editor 23/2), your comments about industry superannuation are totally incorrect. For-profit Super funds are just that .... a company that takes your money, slices off a profit for them and then invests the rest. An Industry Soper fund is a not-for-profit fund that invests the money you pay in. Of the top 10 Super funds, based on returns to members in 2022 in Australia, 8 of these funds were Industry super funds. All these Industry funds are controlled by a board of members of that industry as well as a government appointed representatives.
Can a pro yes voice supporter please tell me what with the 30 billion dollars per year given to aboriginals and and their support services. Plus the 2000 people assisting them can’t do. That a voice to Parliament can do ?
Work hard,go without, save save save, put extra into super, plan carefully for MY needs at retirement, then have the government retrospectively change the rules to satisfy their greedy need for more of my well planned and hard earned superannuation. Deceitful cunning and another example of Labor looking after the working class to satisfy their greed. Use what intelligence you may have to find a genuine way of generating the income you need to support those who didn’t save, go without or plan for their retirement. DK Bundall
What sort of GCCC wack job is this? Set up a Super Group (no mention of cost to do this but undoubtedly many many millions) for tourism. It is going to save $6.8M annually. Sounds good but will never happen and to cover this they say it will be reinvested to help run this Super Group. This mob is out of control- Ozman
Gosh folk, remember when Broadbeach was such the perfect family alternative to the old sleaze of Surfers, eh? Giant mechanical beautiful butterflies flying aloft & monorail going through shopping centre to either deliver punters to Casino or just for a fun round-trip. Then off for kids to ride truly amazing merry-go-round, while parents kept a very close eye on them from one of the many eateries surrounding. “Blues on Broadbeach” absolutely perfect! But what the bloody heck happened to Broadbeach’s unique quality? PO & go back home, whingers!!! Hmph
By the time some dodgy operators have gone into liquidation there aren’t many bones for liquidators to pick. But when there are a few, the fees, charges and commissions leave little for the customers who didn’t get what they paid for. It’s a cruel world for some.
Bad town planning having noisy hospitality venues near residential apartments. The consequences are residents complaining about noisy hospitality venues and hospitality venues complaining about complainants, like in Broadbeach. Why was council so blind to the obvious consequences of allowing such conflicting uses beside each other?
Ignore attempts to justify huge superannuation balances and the wringing of hands about the perceived terrible consequences of closing a tax loophole. The sky won’t fall in and the taxation system will become a little bit fairer for all.
Mt Isa now being taken over by teen crims. Let’s see how State Labor Govt handle the fight from Robbie Katter over the issue. Robbie doesn’t take a back step when it comes to a fight in his electorate. Go Robbie. Barry. L.
Am aware that cranberry juice is a “super food” that’s good for our longevity, but irk spew, surely with all the other “super foods,” folk are embracing nowadays, “longevity” will do just absolutely fine without cranberry juice !!!! Irk, spit, spew, ptui, ptui !!!!!!
Those cashed up Australian trophy hunters who kill endangered animals. What are they thinking ? What do there brains do? Nothing as they couldn’t have a brain definitively don’t have a heart. Bloody pathetic behaviour kick them out of Australia. Old Reggie
Developers should not have rights to commit buyers of apartments to contracts for provision of future ongoing services the new owners will be paying for. Why should developers
take a large profit for selling rights to something the new owners will be paying for? It’s ridiculous. Any involvement by the developer should cease once apartments are sold and new owners take over the body corporate. I’m sure legislative draftspersons can come up with foolproof provisions to prevent developers circumventing more just laws.
Governments don’t have control of economies. They merely pilot their economies through whatever economic situations are thrust upon them by global events, be it boom times, recessions, wars, pandemics, climatic events and other natural disasters. There are good and bad pilots who should only be blamed for poor piloting, not the stormy weather they fly through and which they are powerless to control.
Why do people move into or near establishments, venues, pakrks, sports grounds etc then complain about the noise/traffic or whatever.
Like those who moved into the vicinity of the BMX Track then bitched about the noise etc. They know these places are and have been there for years but still buy near them and make endless complaints. These complaints should NOT be acted on. It’s a bit like eating an entire Steak, then complaining it wasn’t cooked to your satisfaction. Tuff Titties
Do your due diligence through expert professionals before buying into properties with complicated body corporate structures. That way you will know what you would be getting into before deciding whether or not to buy. There are a lot of purchasers who are suffering unfortunate consequences because they failed to carry out thorough due diligence investigations.
The AI program called ChatGPT has decided that only white people have flaws and only white people may be criticized. It was “taught” by leftwing programmers and it has adopted their biases. The left are
racists and ChatGPT proves it. Malcolm
Revitalising Surfers Paradise with a good budget, presents council with an opportunity to do something spectacular. There are plenty of wonderful revitalisation examples in the great cities of the world to draw inspiration from instead of continuing the Gold Coast’s romance with strange art and structures.
It seems to be all too hard for authorities to to exercise the laws they have at their disposal to make the few who disrupt the community comply with accepted community standards. Parking illegally on footpaths is only one such issue. Getting a number plate and fining offenders so they will fear doing it again doesn’t seem very hard. But try getting authorities to do something so simple and see how you go.
My dad who trained RAAF members defending airstrips during WW2 how to shoot and competed in Queens Prize Shoots, drummed into me to
never point a gun, it’s always loaded. I Can’t understand why there was any live ammunition on the set of the Alex Baldwin film, Rust, and why anyone using a weapon in the film would not double-check that a weapon did not contain live ammunition. Two mistakes that cost a woman her life.
To the constant liberal loving whiners stop blaming price hikes on the Albanese government and get some straight facts. When the majority of businesses are recording record profits, who’s to blame? Kate
If the start of the Super Rugby competition this weekend is any indication of the strength of Australian rugby, then the great Eddie Jones has a mountain of work ahead of him if the Wallabies are any chance of progressing past the quarter finals in the world cup. The Queensland Red’s display against the Hurricanes was an absolute joke. Those kiwis made us look like a schoolboy side. Love my Union but if this continues will be changing my support to the NRL.
