‘TURBO’ SAYS HE IS GOOD TO GO

- BRENT READ

SHORT but oh so sweet.

Three words were all it took for Tom Trbojevic to give Manly fans a reason to believe that the dark days are behind them as they prepare to open their season against Canterbury at 4 Pines Park on Saturday afternoon.

Asked by News Corp how he felt after an off-season spent battling back from his latest hamstring injury, Trbojevic replied: ”Ready to go.”

Sea Eagles supporters have held their collective breath throughout the pre-season after Trbojevic was struck down by a recurrence of the hamstring woes that have hammered him in recent seasons.

His recovery this time round included a trip to Philadelphia to work with hamstring guru Bill Knowles and the investment appears to have had the desired effect as Trbojevic zeros in on the club’s season opener against the Bulldogs on Saturday.

“I have been watching a bit of footy lately,” Trbojevic said.

“I am keen to play. It all feels good. Just incorporating some of the stuff I learn from overseas – just before and after sessions to stay on top of it, to try to put yourself in a better position to be able to play.”

History has shown Manly are a different side when Trbojevic takes the field. With him in the line-up, they have won 68 per cent of their games over the past four years.

Without him, that winning ratio drops below 35 per cent. On his day, few in the game can go with him and his Sea Eagles teammates can’t wait to see him back on the field.

“I am really keen to play with Tommy – it has been a while actually since I last played with him,” winger Reuben Garrick said.
