Titans win both on and off field with Fifita

-

DAVID Fifita’s decision to re-sign with the Gold Coast Titans is a big vote of confidence for the NRL club’s direction. The deal, worth $2.4 million, will keep Fifita in the blue and gold for another three years and staves off attempts by both the Brisbane Broncos and Canberra Raiders to poach the talented big man.

Fifita is undoubtedly a marquee player, one just has to turn their thoughts to last Sunday’s demolition of the West Tigers and his attacking prowess to see why.

And for the Titans, keeping Fifita is as much about what he brings off the field with young fans as it is the barnstorming performances on the park.

Perhaps the biggest win of all though is a star of Fifita’s calibre showing such commitment to the Gold Coast, reminiscent of foundation players Mat Rogers, Scott Prince and Preston Campbell.

It shows he is locked in and wants to be part of a Titans side enjoying team success, which is all most fans across the city desire.

At its core, this move will give coach Justin Holbrook and the team a strong sense of certainty, removing the distraction of the “will he stay/will he go ‘’ merry-go-round the club faced heading into the 2023 season.

On-field, it will give the Titans great stability in their forward pack which they can build off for a successful season, hopefully culminating in a finals campaign.

Finals footy hasn’t come around as often as either Titans bosses or fans would have liked but this signing, along with the strong Round 1 win has buoyed hopes.

The Titans have the talent and the players to make a serious finals push and deliver on their potential.

Let’s get behind them Gold Coast.
