Development of towers higher and more dense than allowed for in the City Plan is not a “renaissance” as an editorial in the GCB on 30/5/2023 suggests. It is a despoiling of the amenity of the Gold Coast that once was so attractive to both residents and holiday makers. When this development cycle peaks, the Gold Coast will languish as resident and holiday makers look to more attractive, and natural coastal destinations.
Jail as a last resource sentencing guidelines are an outrage to victims of crime and confirmation the powers that be have no idea about public order. The sentencing guidelines need to reflect public sentiment. After all the public elects the powers that be.
