Yuk! Growth of the Gold Coast is rapidly increasing the risk of water pollution on its glorious beaches during the storm season, which coincides with the main Christmas tourist season. After big rains stormwater flow into oceans, rivers and lakes contaminat­ing. Few are aware of or follow advice to avoid swimming in the ocean for a day or two after heavy rain and it’s hardly in the interest of tourism to make this advice more widely publicised.
