Beach house in the sky

Fashionable Sola tower to be 22 floors

- Quentin Tod

The commercial property experts and designers behind Queensland-based global fashion house SABO and Zaco are lifting the hemline in their latest property foray – to 22 floors.

Brisbane-based George Kouzoukas, his wife Yiota, and his sister Thessy Batsinilas have bowled into Broadbeach to build a luxury tower called Sola.

They operate through company the Ature Group and, since entering the fashion industry in 2011, quietly have been developing commercial projects and luxury housing in Brisbane.

Ature has just finished a nine-level owner-occupier building in Brisbane’s West End and is in the throes of completing a 4000sq m Sabo headquarters.

Sola, which is the company’s first tower and Gold Coast debut and which gained planning approval on December 19, is to consist of 20 full-floor apartments.

They will start at $2.75m and peak at $4.65m.

The tower, on a 640sq m site at 158 Surf Pde that was bought for $6.21m last year, will look across the Broadbeach Bowls Club to the ocean.

Mr Kouzoukas this week said the aim with Sola was to create a beach house in the sky.

“Through the evolution of our fashion labels, we have been lucky enough to travel the world, visiting luxurious locations and high-end homes, which has served as inspiration for our fashion ranges,” he said.

“We are drawing from the same principles that have shaped our fashion house and we’re embarking on crafting living spaces where sophistication converges with innovation.”

Three of the apartments in Sola, which is to be launched in February, will be retained by the SABO founders.

Each apartment will span 200sq m and resident facilities on the second-floor podium level will include a wellness area with mineral spa and ice pools, gym, sauna and a covered swimming pool and deck.

SABO has a Pacific Fair store and Thessy and Yiota have been featured in Asia’s Forbes under-30 list.
