Fishers’ natural surprise

Superstar Gold Coaster DJ Paul Fisher and wife and podcast host Chloe (right), have revealed they were about to enlist a surrogate when their ‘miracle baby’ naturally emerged after a hellish fertility journey.

The couple, after eight demanding rounds of IVF and heartache of four miscarriages, opened up in heartfelt revelations on Chloe’s podcast “Darling, Shine!”, which she co-hosts with friend Ellidy Pullin, the widow of snowboarder champion Alex ‘Chumpy’ Pullin.

Chloe called the natural conception “a deadset miracle” after “1000s of needles, eight rounds of IVF and multiple surgeries”.

“The baby was not IVF; it was a natural conception, believe it or not. I’m still actually shook.”

The Fishers were in the final stages of planning for a surrogate, having already chosen one and prepared to sign the necessary legal documents when discovering Chloe was pregnant.

“I was meeting the surrogate with Ellidy that week – we had signed everything off,” Chloe said. “This was in October and at the time and we were still deciding when we wanted to do the transfer, whether we wanted to do it before the end of the year.”

The expecting parents found they’d conceived naturally after their rainy honeymoon in the Maldives in early October. With rain pouring down, leaving them with little to do, Fisher jokingly said “it was just raining every day, so Fish and Coco went to town”.

Chloe shared on the podcast: “For the last three and a half years, we’ve pretty much continuously tried. Every month I kind of had hope, but then I was just like it’s never going to happen. I had such a low egg count. It meant I never really ovulated.”

Their journey and eventual success was announced to followers on Instagram on Christmas Day, alongside a photo featuring a glowing Chloe showing off her baby bump with Paul’s beaming smile and ultrasound baby picture.

It attracted 14,000 comments, touching many with its candidness and heartfelt message.

“The greatest gift of all! I’ve waited my whole life for you,” the caption read. “The most wanted and loved baby Fisher will be joining the tour in 2024, we are still pinching ourselves we’ve finally been chosen to become parents … WE DID IT @followthefishtv I love you so so much!”

Chloe, sharing her joy, did not forget the struggles of those who are still on their fertility journey.

“Although this post is the single most happiest moment in my life, I know how incredibly hard announcements like these are for those struggling with infertility. I know this pain and suffering all too well,” the caption read.

“I feel you all, I see you all and completely understand the disappointment & sadness you are all feeling … I pray you hold your miracle in your arms soon. My heart is with you.”

The couple reflected on lifestyle changes, including giving up alcohol and reducing stress associated with IVF, saying it might have played a role in their unexpected natural conception.

“We didn’t talk about it, it didn’t stress us out. I think stress is a key factor here,” Fisher said.

Chloe is now 15 weeks pregnant.
