Siobhan Duck flags seven new shows that will keep you glued to the small screen in 2024

- The Regime (Binge)

This sweeping miniseries sees Kate Winslet (pictured) play a despot trying to hold on to the last vestiges of her power in a fictional European country. Hugh Grant co-stars as the opposition leader, whose jailing triggers unrest and the arrival of the US secretary of state (Martha Plimpton). Premieres February 26.

Swift Street (SBS and SBS On Demand) This series follows street-smart Elsie (Tanzyn

Crawford), who discovers that her old-school hustler father, Robert (Cliff Curtis), is being hunted down by a merciless crime boss over a bad debt. When the 21-year-old decides to help him, it sparks the beginnings of a reconcilia­tion – and their dubious reign as partners in crime. Coming in 2024.

The Twelve (Binge) Sam Neill returns as Brett Colby, a shrewd barrister who travels to rural Western Australia with his co-counsel, Meredith NelsonMoor­e (Frances O’Connor), to take on a high-profile murder case. Like the first season, this courtroom drama takes viewers inside the jury room, where we learn about the biases of those sitting in judgement. Coming in 2024.

Top Gear Australia (Paramount+) An Aussie version of the popular UK format was first given a test drive back in 2008 on SBS. Can the new hosts Beau Ryan,

Jonathan LaPaglia and Blair Joscelyne recapture the energy and chemistry of the original? Coming in 2024.

Return To Paradise

(ABC TV and iview) The British–French crime comedy Death In Paradise franchise hits our shores with this spin-off about an Aussie expat in the London police force who returns to her hometown of Dolphin Cove – where she finds herself solving a lot of murders. Coming in 2024.

The Last Anniversar­y (Binge) Based on the bestseller by Liane Moriarty (Big Little Lies), this thriller stars Teresa Palmer as a single woman who inherits a house on an island filled with secrets – and unwelcomin­g townsfolk. Coming in 2024.

Dream Home (Seven Network and 7Plus) Dr Chris Brown hosts this new renovation show in which six couples turn their humble homes into showstoppe­rs, room-by-room. Coming in 2024.
