So Miles reckons “Good leaders spend time with their family “- what utter rot. Good leaders lead - from the front. Darryle Knowles

How can insurance companies justify doubling and in some cases quadrupling premiums for home and contents insurance when their profits doubled in the year ending 30 June 2023? They can’t. Many Australians already struggling with cost of living increases in I excess of the official inflation figure, will simply be unable to afford to insure their homes. What sort of country are we living in that allows this greed

The most notable thing about the names on the Epstein client list is that they’re mostly Democrats. Higgs

Are they for real. Miles well dressed in white long sleeved shirt & jeans with small tree branches in each hand & media headline says ‘Miles joins the clean up’. Do they think we’re stupid. Show me a photo of him dirty & sweaty actually doing the hard yards.

You’d think that the union owned Labor Government would look after workers in the Coolangatta/Tweed area when NSW daylight saving disrupts their lives every year. But no. No interest. No caring. Martin Oxenford

Stephen smiles all over the media inspecting the damage at Tambourine yesterday 4/1 & posing for the camera. He’s over a week late. That damage happened Christmas night. Should have cut his holiday even earlier. Morrison got into heaps of trouble for going on holiday during bushfires.

Ajs if u want to cool the planet u need more water & clouds in the sky to reflect the sun’s rays. Covering the planet’s surface with solar panels & wind turbines is making it hotter, drier & more extreme. Electric vehicles don’t help either. A. Realist

Good on the Council for delaying rates bills because of the storm damage. It’s something they can do to show support and show that people aren’t being ignored. Good luck to all those affected. It’s going to be a long haul. Sus, Southport

Descriptions such as “brutal interest rate rises” and “soaring interest rates” are a bit rich, pun intended, for what is actually a return to normal rates.

Re- Roger Lenehan having a crack at Mann’s SES cartoon. I know a few volunteers, so i rang them, and they thought the cartoon was based on them taking a well deserved break from tireless hours on the job, and were all amused at Mann’s cartoon. Have a chill pill Roger. KenW.

I agree wholeheartedly with Roger Lenehan’s letter to editor Friday paper. I thought Mann’s cartoon was insulting to the many SES volunteers. So many folk needing help and only so many SES volunteers available.

Roger Lenehan’s comments towards Mann’s cartoons about the SES were very woke! Sir get a Life! It’s so sad

that in today’s society we can’t have some sort of fun and a funny joke about things! The SES would have a laugh too, because knowing that the public well appreciate their efforts! It’s a shame the government doesn’t give them enough support, instead of wasting money on other futile measures. KB Tweed

Roger Lenehan , you should be ashamed for not having a basic sense of humour. Get a grip. The cartoon indicated to me that the SES were undermanned and overwhelmed. But your view is nasty.

At last some peoe on the front page who aren’t whingeing.

Good on you Susan and David Han more. Others should take a leaf out of your book. KJ.

Ho hum, you are correct, the greenies whinge about cutting down trees to make paper bags, but not a word about millions felled to put up wind farms & solar panels.

Ray Earlville correct why do TV stations play the back ground music so high you can’t hear the actual commentary they are only defeating their purpose Vern S

a good cheap safety aid for nearly everyone, especially walkers, is a simple whistle, it’s piercing sound can travel further than anything, and makes it easier for rescuers to find a lost person, a lot of $2 shops carry them, from a long time walker

So the army comes in to help the cleanup. Congrats but they have a job. Protecting our shores. Give the people on the dole an address. If they dont show up to work no dole. Council buses will pick up those that dont have transport. The worker

why do they have to put shirt lifters into midday christmas movies, it’s a bit gross for kids to see it. Dad

ASF..until you can say that you’ve achieved as much as Sonny Bill Williams has in both Leauge and Union maybe then you might be qualified to direct your nasty comments and criticism at him. Until then I suggest you zip your lip and remember that the guy has won TWO rugby world cups back to back. Rangi.

Mid east could very easily be a flash point for the start of the 3rd world war, if it goes off as in Iran joining in, it could very well encourage China and nth Korea to start.

One in eight households are spending a month’s wages on home and contents insurance as premiums skyrocket following flood and fire disasters propelled by global warming. ajs
