Alleged Mongol accused of break in

- Jessica Paul

An elderly Gold Coast woman’s home was allegedly broken into by four armed men – including one accused of being a Mongols bikie and another accused of being an associate.

Police allege four armed men broke into a Labrador home at 2am on January 3, with an elderly occupant escaping uninjured.

The men were allegedly caught on CCTV travelling in a Volkswagen Golf, also alleged to have been stolen from Tarragindi several days prior.

After the the alleged break in, police raided Pimpama and Upper Coomera homes at the weekend, allegedly finding the stolen vehicle along with a double-barrel sawn-off shotgun and shells, drugs, weapons, suspected stolen jewellery and a “large amount” of cash.

A 29-year-old man – allegedly a member of the Mongols outlaw motorcycle gang – faces more than a dozen charges including entering premises with intent, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing a shortened firearm, and possessing a Category A firearm (shotgun).

A 32-year-old alleged Mongols associate has also been charged with several offences including entering premises with intent, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, disqualified driving, possessing a relevant substance or thing, and possessing tainted property.

Both men appeared in Southport Magistrates Court this week. They were remanded in custody to next appear on January 18.

Police say investigations are ongoing to locate two other men, who are not believed to pose a threat to the community.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has further information to contact police.
