Magical bond for Kah and Parkour

Dynamic duo tipped to fire

- Ben Dorries

James Cummings has outlined the special affinity that Jamie Kah has with crack Godolphin colt Parkour as the Blue Army aims to strike gold for the second time in the Gold Coast Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Clare Lindop remains the only female jockey to win the 2YO Classic when she rode Augusta Proud to a famous victory for legendary Adelaide trainer Leon Macdonald in 2008.

Kah is trying to follow in her footsteps and looks a red-hot chance on Parkour who stormed home for an authoritative win over 1200m at Randwick last start.

That was Parkour’s second race start, coming after the colt’s debut when chasing home Arabian Summer in the Magic Millions Ballarat 2YO Classic.

The form out of the Ballarat 2YO race has traditionally not been the strongest but looks good this year after Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained Arabian Summer surged to an impressive win on the Gold Coast last Saturday and is one of the top fancies for Saturday’s $3m race.

Cummings believes he has the colt to win the Magic Millions and says Kah can provide the riding magic required.

Nine-time Group 1 Kah is no stranger to big race success for Godolphin, having won the Doncaster Mile on Cascadian in 2021.

“Jamie Kah jumped this colt out initially for me,” Cummings said.

“She developed an immediate affinity with him and has been with him since.

“I felt the colt needed a trip away from home because he was showing us a lot.

“He ran beautifully for Jamie on debut, getting home really well on that soft track there at Ballarat.

“I think it’s a matter of time before a rich race like that Ballarat race is going to have good form out of it.

“The form has already been franked this year with the quinella both having won since.

“I thought Arabian Summer was extremely impressive on the weekend.”

Kah will need to be at her best to guide Parkour to victory after the Godolphin colt drew the widest barrier 17 at the barrier draw event at Surfers Paradise beach on Tuesday morning.

Parkour drifted from $8.50 to $9.50 but remains one of the top fancies in betting.

One thing that seems sure is that the two-year-old son of Extreme Choice will run out a strong 1200m, while some of his rivals may not.
