Poster Girl ‘set to storm home’

- Trenton Akers

Chris Munce has warned punters not to forget his Magic Millions 2YO Classic bolter Poster

saying she will be the horse storming home off a hot tempo in a race for the $3m prize.

The filly is a $34 chance in betting, but Munce was quick to remind punters of her run in the Group 3 BJ McLachlan last month, where she was taking ground off the hot $2.30 Magic Millions favourite Storm Boy.

A three-time winner of the race as a jockey, Munce is desperate to win the Magic Millions as a trainer and believes Poster Girl will absorb the pressure of the race from barrier six.

“The profile of a Magic Millions race is going to suit her – high pressure with lots of speed, which will play into her hands,” he said.

“She will be doing 1200m easy.

“I won three as a jockey, it’d be good to get one back as a trainer. (Owners) Debbie and Gerald O’Toole put a lot into it, so it’d be nice to get some back for them.”

After Poster Girl won on debut in November, Munce looked like having an army of Magic Millions horses. But Poster Girl has been the last one standing, with first emergency Spirited still looking to get a run.

Munce then gave Poster Girl a short break before giving her two runs in six days, where she ran into Storm Boy.

“After the Sunshine Coast we had this race in mind, so it was a matter of how many runs did we want to give her,” he said.

“I gave her a freshen up and leading into the first run back when she got beaten at Caloundra, she was a bit big.

“That’s why I backed her up quickly to give us the time into the Magic Millions.

“It has worked out well because she has just kept improving.”
