It never ends. Looks like insurance companies want a slice of the extra money the government has promised Surf Life Saving Queensland. Doubling WorkCover premiums charged to a wonderful community service group like SLSQ is disgraceful. Australia is fast becoming a third world nation as people struggle to keep a roof over their heads and feed themselves while businesses, already making record profits, hit them with big unjustified increases in prices.

Don’t even think about wasting ratepayers money on another attempt to spruce up Surfer’s Paradise. As the saying goes, you can’t put lipstick on a pig.

Australia Day is January 26, that is all.

Who cares when Australia Day is, celebrate this joint every day you loonies because it is the best place in the world to live.

Saying people who want to change the date of Australia Day hate Australia and should leave is moronic. The people want to change the date, not cancel Australia Day.

Oz day, I ask everyone get out there and do the Oz day. If you are ASHAMED of Australia, there are plenty of country’s you can go to, and trash their national day. Good luck. 4cr

Jan 26th is AUSTRALIA DAY!!! Those bellyaching against it, wouldn’t even know the words to use to protest otherwise! Hmph !!!!

Australia Day is a day to celebrate being privileged to be here and enjoying what we have. If not you don’t have to celebrate or be here. Life is full of choices. History is history and can’t be changed and we today did not create it. Embrace today and what we have and moving forward. GN

Flicka, yes happy for you but try buying Australian flags ,themed clothing or maybe even thongs and you will be severely disappointed. Silver.

Bypassed Woolies & shopped Coles & bought Aussie Flag & cap Reject Shop (made in China but what the heck) !! DS

Still waiting for Coles at Benowa Village to display their Australia Day merchandise. Time is running out. Miss Benowa

KB Tweed, Mate Ford’s aren’t true blue at all, as yank as they come. Cedric.

Ford and Holden not ours buddy.

To no name 16/01. Were did you drag those figures from on Australia Day issue. You supplied no reference. Read page 10 of GCB 16/01. They have referenced their claim. Tezza.

So woke is now a misused cliche that has strayed from its original meaning. What about the G in your short alphabet? Also, to the goose who said 60% of Australians want to change the date of Australia Day, how did that get past the fact checker? Peter

Hey Ooroo, you are so right! Plus white goods deteriorate very quickly from salt air damage. No Hedges for me

Dear Mayor please take a drive down Hedges Ave early morning it’s mayhem bike riders, dog walkers, Mum’s with prams, scooters, joggers etc. it’s like Bourke Street. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have the riders on the road bike path and an Oceanway path for the others to enjoy our beautiful beach. LB

Chevron Island – When will we see the GCCC policing the riding of bikes along footpaths here? Signs being totally ignored and pedestrians being hit and having to move out of way. Either police it or remove signs. RB

Tues cartoon, spot on again Mann!! If voracious, money-hungry agents could earn same big $ commissions using same tactics to raise food prices as they do to raise house prices for a bigger piece of the pie, reckon they would!!! Shame on them! Amen

The stuff up with TMR is probably due to the fact they are all still working from home and have never met each other.

The people who complain about there being too many public servants are the same people complaining about there not being enough police officers, ambulances and people answering Centrelink phones.

Those Covid shots have ruined most peoples immune systems. They lied to us about being tested properly !!!!

PH- diesel driver! Yes you’re right on about EV batteries , in Canada freezing temps! Having supplied Antartica with batteries which have specifically made electrolytes just so they don’t freeze! I wouldn’t have a EV vehicle personally , as needing more improvements and can have poor resale value! KB Tweed

As devastating as rain has caused damage far and wide, much prefer it, than DROUGHT, any day !!!!!!!!!!

Whilst hosing off the the patio of the Crepe Myrtle flowers, leaves and debris, it left me wondering to whether I was helping to Lower the Dam level, or looking at an excess water bill? Probably both - Queenie

How come none of the predictions from the Climate change crowd, spanning back more than 3 decades has come to pass? Our dams were never to be full again, whilst whole Pacific Nations were supposed to be underwater? Sheridan Whitehead.

No doubt, many are confused! Are catastrophic weather events due to “climate change” or are Gods just mightily p’d off that we’re not looking after pristine Earth? Dunno, whadya reckon, eh??

Good to see Penny Wong swanning around on her private jet polluting the planet . Talk about triple standards!!

So sad to see that Australia hasn’t got any decent female tennis players. After Ash Barty’s departure there is absolutely nobody to come even close to her success! Many Countries with a lot less favourable weather conditions recording great results. But here struggle street for so many years!

To the peanut trashing the Titans, saying they have big heads, get behind the boys. It’s rubbish like this that keeps bringing our team down. Don’t need the negativity ahead of what will be a good season for the Coast.

Just an observation, most AFL fan I’ve met are simpletons. GW.
