Tom Tate as long term mayor of our city and seeking another term in office, what r u going to do abt congestion that is grinding this city to a halt. My friends family neighbours and myself don’t wish to go out on weekends or holidays as the traffic is so bad in this city and the parking is non existent. New trams won’t make any difference in reducing traffic. Fed up local burleigh

You can leave a boat on the side of the road up to the Spit for 2 months. You can live in a houseboat on the beach at Bums Bay and use it as a toilet daily for 3 years. You can camp for all of Christmas just north of the Sheraton on the dunes. But don’t park in your driveway adjacent to the council lawn you mow. Because the council will fine you. GN

Just a note to all vehicle drivers along Marine Parade. Australia Day late afternoon at the pedestrian crossing without lights, a small silver car came within an arms length of colliding with a pedestrian who was already halfway across the crossing. For Gods sake keep your eyes on the road and not on what is happening on the Broadwater

Spin Dr Jim Chalmers, you left a couple of things out in your Bulletin article. Had you stated ahead of the 2022 Election that you would change Superannuation and the Stage 3 tax cuts there would have been less votes for the ALP. Now in power you have gone against the pledges prior to the election. No matter what “Spin” you put out there the reality is you have broken promises. Old Timer

Let’s all hope that One Term Albo will call for an early election, and that we can all agree on getting back to normal life again! KB Tweed

Every morning, at the coffee shop, I see a group of school girls who meet before school. They all order exotic coffee at $10+ EA. Maybe they find their own value in it but I know that if my mates and I had $200 between us on any given weekend we would have got bus passes and gone on a surf raid up and down the coast. Not blown it on a cup of Joe. Dave

How do you know if someone is vegan? Don’t worry, they’ll tell you. Johnbrew

Do the idiots that cut down Capt Cook statue realise he was on a scientific voyage when he found the East coast of AUS . He did not even go into Sydney harbour & I suspect only raised the Union Jack on Cape York to beat the French. No connection at all to Jan 26.

Problem with the noisy minority is they won’t want to celebrate Australia Day no matter what date it is

Two things happened on Australia Day Manns joke absolutely summed it up 100% and the 6 o’clock news non stop Aussie day coverage and about 30 seconds for the haters concrete evidence the Australia Day 26 Jan is here forever. Mr MF

When one person complains about something their complaint is fullfilled. Now 3.8 percent of the population want to change how the other 96.2 percent should believe in. Barney

The people who would like the date

Australia Day is celebrated don’t hate Australia and they are not all socialists. There would be plenty of Liberals and Teals in favour of a more sensitive date. They love Australia as much as the people who want the date to remain as it is. So stop the rubbish and disinformation that seems to permeate every issue that comes up for public debate.

The real estate market has not followed the script since the Covid pandemic. Which brings into question the factors that normally influence the way the market is likely to perform. One constant that will never be in question though is affordability. And affordability will serve as a brake on prices rising. Today’s over-the-top price could be tomorrow’s regret.

Albo and his lack of leadership has seen the decline of Australian pride in the country and flag. He has created the division that exists while telling us he is closing the gap. Just another example of how out of touch he is with the rest of Australia. Not decisive and not a leader.

Ken Wade , letters , 27/1 . Most lefties & anti-conservatives have forgotten that the Libs won more of the general federal vote than Labour. Rusted on lefties will never accept logic & fact ! Struth

I strongly disagree with V’landys speaking to Rudd for help to get NRL players into US. Let them take responsibility for their actions no matter who they are & if they’re not allowed ‘that’s life’ as Rudd said. They miss a game of football. Exactly the problem with youth crime in not being shown there are consequences no matter who you are.

Here we go again, trees falling over power lines, this time 50,000 Townsville residents plunged into darkness for weeks. If there weren’t so many Greens in Councils today, those rogue trees would all be gone. KenW

Once used true initials of name to contribute 2 bob’s worth to “txt page,” ‘til loony with same initials, but totally different views, was printed. Hence therefore, have chosen to sign off txts, with one of my many “alter-egos.” Sybil

Instead of saying “I trust the science” it’d be more honest to say “I don’t have the cognitive capacity to think critically for myself, and so I default to believing whatever most people believe so that I never have to feel as gullible as I actually am.” JS

Trump’s Truth social media pages must be very much like Alice in wonderland. The largest collection of Fake news on the planet. RAMBO

I thought all that “screaming and rubbish” at the tennis had stopped? Now we have another female player doing it! Sabalanka it’s totally uncalled for, please stop it. COOLY KEV.
