How was the traffic on Thurs 25/1, it took me 1h.45m to get from Southport to Bonogin, usually 30m. More & more people moving in. I reckon the upgraded M1 from the border north will be obsolete before it’s opened. Probably because of the permanent go-slow to keep jobs. They have taken longer to build Mudgeeraba to the border with better equipment than it did to build Nerang to Springwood decades ago. Hmphh! RGA
The light rail will not solve traffic congestion on Gold Coast roads. It will not even make a dent in the number of cars on the road unless the network extends to service all suburbs. Running along the coastal strip and onto Helensvale will not get tower dwellers out of their motor vehicles if their destination is not within walking distance of a station. So stop using it as an excuse to build more apartment tower blocks.
The workers on the Cotlew street road works must be well rested by now having had 6 weeks off for Christmas. Should be done for the Olympics and stay on schedule.
Has anyone ever done a costing for having power lines underground against the cost of restoring power lost because of storm damage mainly caused by fallen trees. Barney

Supermarkets that are slow in passing on falling fruit and meat prices they pay at the farm gate to consumers, will increase prices overnight if they are forced to pay more to farmers and graziers.
